5. I hope it repeats, but if it is earth based or a satellite, why is it not repeating as it orbits regularly? I am afraid that I am skeptical of everyone these days, because I do not think if it is really they would tell us. The planet is full of ultra-religious fanatics and they would not be

Yeah – it is probably a poorly designed Chinese satellite transmitter that required restarts a few times, which produces initial small transmission out of whack frequency bursts detected by your receivers. Any intelligent design will send a longer duration decodable transmission signals,, period.

24. I hope they record the signal and look for any kind of modulation, encoding in the signal. If its a continuous wave signal other than with a slight blueshift which is steady over a long period of time, this makes it trickier to identify an origin. If ET wants to send a signal hopefully they would encode data into it, pulse it, modulate it or something, such as primes, which makes it indisputably artificial. Do they have any idea of whether the signal was a beam type signal, directional or omnidirectional? I think they should post the data for the signal online and let other people look into it. Being a narrow signal is interesting and I think the astrophysicists might be a little hard pressed to come up with an theory although maybe they will. Otherwise you are looking for a satellite or a local source for this frequency, to rule out ET origin. If none of that comes to frution, then the ET theory becomes stronger. Of course, you would also keep a constant eye on Proxima Centauri know in case the signal comes back. It seems like SETI needs multiple antennas to keep track of all of this and some wealthy donor.

    It is also my understanding an ET signal will likely be a focused beam type signal because these can reach out further than an all direction signal, simply because the energy is focused as a beam and wont dissipate as much with distance. This is because of how rapidly a normal broadcast signal dissipates, that a one of our 100 kw broadcast signals would nearly fade into the background by the time it gets to another solar system. So to be feasible an ET signal may be a beam simply because it is what is most feasible to do. And maybe they just rotate between beaming a signal at different stars, so maybe this signal will come back on for us when they rotate back to beaming it in our direction. But if you are going to do this, you probably encode it with data. A Beam signal would be likely be an intentional act for the purpose of trying to contact another planet, so someone with such intent is likely to encode. Its just pure speculation through.

32. This is where I have a problem, we spend all this money looking in the space going into space wanting to go to Mars while we ignore the problems we are having right here on Earth. We need to stop spending money on this nonsense and spend money on solving problems like diseases and kids going to bed hungry and America needs a lot of investment and education because many other countries are overtaking us in the education department so I say once we solve our problems here on Earth then we can spend money on looking into the outer space, hey I love looking at the stars too.
