Came out beautifully man! I'm thinking of embarking on a similar project with my dad (a carpenter by trade) for my grandmother's (his mother's) 90th birthday next summer. We've always talked about doing some furniture, used to joke about starting a furniture company, but art deco would be perfect for my grams as she was born in 1930 and remembers art deco radios and ww2.
I love how this clock mixes old with the modern (yet old inspired) lixie display. Definitely gave us some ideas. ๐ค
Beautiful work, Mark. I'm pretty good at woodwork, metalwork, electronics, and computer programming so I binge-watched all ten videos and found them fascinating. I built a Lixie clock a couple of years ago. However, I bought my Lixies from Connor. Compared to the stock version, the way you assembled yours is a lot stronger. I made a nice case for my Lixies using African padauk wood. It's not as intricate as yours. But I spent a lot of time re-writing the code to make the colors and display options more versatile. Since yours has a very retro feel, leaving the colors set to the Nixie simulation is the way to go. One thing, though. Did you consider putting glass behind the beautiful nickel frames? I find that Lixies tend to get dusty so it might be better if they are sealed in a dustproof enclosure.
FYI, for a faster wifi connection next time try some engine starter fluid. Does wonder one those pesky slower internet speeds.
Good lord, I thought I had a bad case of ocd. I can;'t even imaging where to start with a project as amazing as this. You have gone far more than most would have in detail and workmanship. A true craftsman. Can't wait to watch your other series videos.

Mr. Presling, this is AMAZING! Far beyond my vision for the Lixie, (thank you for keeping my name on my boards) and I love what you've done with the files to accommodate the casing. I have always loved the '30s art deco style, which you have achieved fantastically with this build!

Beautiful piece of work, and a great series. I've just now finished binge watching all your stuff in sequence, and it's been great. The problem now is, I've run out of episodes – so come on mate, pull your finger out, us lazy watchers need more from the creative doers.
