Great intvw!
شكرا معاذ..الصوت خفيف شوي بس بنشد حيلنا
Ala Al-Aziz: thank you for the feedback. let me start by first admitting that i made discriptive and misuse of "scientific proof". Furthermore, i attempted to cut a long conversation short because i did not want to talk allot… people want to listen to Dr. Dennett not me! what i meant to say is historical and theological proof. However, i think you are just claiming that i was wrong with out a counter argument. Saying "Obviously" does not prove i was wrong.
It is during king Faisal, if i recall correctly, who started the radio station and the saudi religious heads believed that is evil, similar story for the TV and Telephones, in saudi arabia, they had to broadcast the Quran to prove that is not magic. and with the telephone, i think its king Saud, who made two shykhs recite the quran to each other to prove its not magic….
I think there is a historical consensus that that the Quran came as a mean of unification of the arab language of the tribes. It is a source of historical and theological debates between the Quranis, Sunnis, Shiites, and the Mutazilis. it is more ideological for the Sunnis and Asha'ris. you can find opinion such as what i am describing in Taha Hussain and Abu-zaid. by doing some research on the topic that the syntax of the arabic language was short-listed by the rules of the Quran. The arabic language and its syntax can validated by one source and that is the Quran. Before that it was a compilation of poetry that is the set yardstick of the rules of syntax. so i think the claim is exactly in place… no doubt about it, at least in my opinion.
i would like to conclude by saying: you are suggesting that i prepare a scientific proof while at the same time in your counter argument, committing 2 logical fallacies. Ad hominem and Ad Ignorantum.
Never the less, i appreciate your feedback and i encourage healthy and constructive dialogue.
This is cool, man.
Thanks for sharing this interview, the one with Seven Pinker is also much appreciated.
when you get sick of it, remember Einstein, Euler, Higgs and see Oliver Humpage, consider how much we can measure and look at reality not the constraints of false numbers – look at the particle science – we know absolutely nothing – love mandelbrot chaos 😀
thanks for uploading, man.
awesome talk makes me want to follow more of this type of philosophy. but wtf is going on with the camera? is this a test of my consciousness to ignore bad camera usage and focus on the message? also I can see your microphone hanging overhead.
Why not learn to film this?
Well done man! all the best with all your future endeavours. This was very interesting and you are a great interviewer.
"Obsurantist, ideological fancy talk." Yep. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
More on the web of belief
