Every night, something extraordinary happens to you, so familiar that you barely notice it. You climb into bed, close your eyes, and slowly lose contact with the world. The room around you disappears. The concerns that occupied your mind throughout the day dissolve into silence. The identity you spend every waking moment protecting and maintaining fades. Then, for several hours, you enter a state that remains one of the greatest mysteries in human existence. You dream.

Dreams have always fascinated us. Ancient civilizations treated them as messages from the gods. Religious traditions viewed them as portals to deeper truths. Psychologists saw them as windows into the hidden architecture of the mind. Despite centuries of disagreement about what dreams are, one intuition has persisted across cultures and eras: the feeling that dreams are revealing something we cannot normally see.

  1. Growing up my mom said that dreams had to do with our brain organizing stuff from the day or the week that we’ve thought about and getting moved from short term memory to long term and when we enter rem sleep it just brings a visual perception to it

  2. I have had so many dreams that take place in what might be southern California that I cannot count them.
It is slightly different geographically and some areas are named the same but the shore lines are different. I could draw a detailed map of the areas. As well as detailed charts of topography.

    And the events link together.

    Been visiting there for years.

  3. There are times when I can't figure out a problem no matter what angle I approach it I fail… I'll stop what I'm doing and when I sleep the answer comes to me in a dream… When I wake up I try it and I'm successful every time… Clear as day.. people say dreams are just dreams but they don't know how to use them… Crazy as it sounds it's true

  4. Animals dream. You see a dog running in its dream it is chasing that rabbit before it disappears down its hole. It is possible all active brain material just keeps on processing when awake, then when RAM is disabled the HARD DRIVE kicks in, feeding streams of data captured from conception, even drawing from the collective consciousness of humanity from its earliest existence.

  5. They are trying to promote that dreaming is a lack of proper sleep. Recently seen a “doctor” talking about how REM sleep shouldn’t consist of dreaming. Along with some other BS.. but you know, F them

  6. A recently dead friend talked to me in a dream last night. At first everything ran as a movie script. No real interaction. But was able to snap out of it and pointed at him, and said: Hey! It is you! The image stopped talking, looked at me blankly, and turned into smoke. The surroundings (scene) collapsed. Waked up. It was like that dream deeply disliked a conscious override and choose disintegration in the face of interruption.

  7. The truth is that we inherit parts of a fragmented yet collective consciousness from those who have died before us. This is something I have recently come to realize. Those of you who ponder deeply and have lost loved ones will understand what I mean if you carry this theory with you. Dreams are primarily about sorting memories, but also about processing certain fragments of other people's memories.

  8. I've always felt the when we dream, the experiences we have are emotionally registered by the brain as actual events. When you have a nightmare you FEEL ACTUAL FEAR. It's not FICTIONAL when you wake up screaming, in tears and TERRIFIED. Your brain says "THAT SHUT JUST HAPPENED"!!! so we KNOW what it feels like to fly, deal from a sky scraper and even be murdered.

  9. Here because I’m trying to figure out how 2 people share a dream. It happened to my husband and I. I awoke in the middle of the night, and could see all these grid lines in the room and a matrix type setting on the walls of the bedroom, and saw my husbands hand on my body as a robotic, virtual reality type hand. I was just staring at all of this and he awoke, and he said man, remind me to tell you about a dream I was having when we get up tomorrow. I woke up the next morning and quickly jotted down the experience I had, before asking him about his dream. When I asked him, he proceeded to tell me he had a dream we were in a matrix setting, grid lines on the walls and everything was in virtual reality. I showed him my writing, and we both just stared at each other. Hasn’t happened since, but it was the strangest thing that’s ever happened to us.
He said he was definitely asleep, and dreaming it, but I was awake and experiencing his dream in reality, is the only thing we can come up with. Did our consciousnesses meld together? And how was I awake, consciously experiencing his unconscious?
    Fascinating stuff!

  10. I've been having this reoccurring dream that i meet my "soulmate" on a ship, but a huge wave makes the ship capsize and when the water keeps rising and we get stuck, we drown.
Always the same, the same order, same place we get stuck, the only thing i never remember is what that person looks like.
It always feels very real and vivid, the fear, feeling the water, what that person makes me feel.

  11. Cats & Dogs dream too. But, I never considered my Cat to be an astral travelling Quantum Physicist. Lots of big words, philosophy, esoteric concepts and a whole load of creativity. I hope you got some good add revenue off of this "story". Sorry.

  12. Its not that dreams are just dreams, those instances of sub-level consciousness is processing of our world around us. We only pick up some of what is all around us because there is too much going on. I think dreams and altered state visions or experiences are truth or a reality of everything that is and was, will be, could be, we just haven't allowed it to happen yet. Like only noticing one path when in reality there were many paths, multiples of the path that made most sense at the time that works. A many lane highway or a path in the woods where a similar path is hidden by the trees and brush, we stay on the one that made most sense with what was in front of us. Or the path someone else pointed out to us… it gets us to where we thought was where we were supposed to be. The other path that was hidden might be in a dream telling you to go to it and you may find a change in life you did not expect. One that is and makes your life whole, or fulfilled beyond what the path you were shown or told to go on would lead you to. The echos of an alternate reality that is, only if you take the chance to notice it and accept it and go to it. It might be the path that makes your life better and complete.

  13. I have a history of dreaming things before they happen and within a day that dream would have come true. Best example is when I dreamt about my late mom holding a newborn in her arms and she walked up to me saying, "Have you met my first grandchild? "… I was surprised as to what was happening so I just replied saying not yet. I woke up from that dream to a message from my young brother telling me his first born child had been born, and yes, that baby was the first grandchild

  14. i love dreaming – some of the feelings are so intense and beautiful and sometimes quite scary. i can never read what's on my iPhone and i'm always trying to find someplace to print my boarding pass in a massive resort – and of course the airplane almost crashes..and the flying !!- i fricking love dreaming

  15. I am always in a type of confusing elaborate prison or some weird hybrid of a prison/mall/waterpark. I can never get out and have a sense of impending doom the whole time, like I am on the verge of realizing something awful.

  16. Quantum physics is basically just modern Western science catching up with what spirituality and Eastern philosophies have known for thousands of years. Those of us with spiritual experiences already know this. It is interesting to watch over and over as quantum physics discovers stuff I have always known, but just calling it by different names 😂

  17. Do you uderstand there is a clear difference between a dream and a vision, its like comparing a color tv with a radio. One gives you symbols the other gives you a audio and visual warning and it clear.

  18. I fell about 5 feet and hit my head in 2013 when I was 58. I had a concussion. It took three days to remember where I lived. I lived in a sort of mental cloud for 18 months. From time to time, I seemed to 'wake up' and think I was back to being myself. Each time, I found myself muddled in some ways, and then I'd 'wake up' again. After the first week, I was able to function fairly normally. But I'd get lost and not know where I was or what I was doing. People told me I was simply aging, but then I 'woke up' again, and I knew it wasn't simply age-related. After those 18 months, I realized that I was actually awake, and I didn't have the 'waking up' experience again. I'm still diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome because I still have mild symptoms occasionally.

  19. I would believe this all, intact I did until I remember ed a strange phenomenon I regularly experience. Believe me or don't I don't care really but I will remember a dream something simple like doing work or playing my instrument nothing weird but then weeks months or once years later I see this exact dream but in my real life. Its always very incredibly accurate it was weird the first few times but its natural to me now. I had a blurry dream if my first concert but a really vivid one where I'm seeing a new place for the first time but sometimes there is a slight thing off like a car crashes through a wall or a conversation changes. This has been happening since I was 6. My theory is im looking into alternative universes but idk I'm just chilling here. Also has anyone else experienced this?? I've only ever met 2 people who relate.
