4. when i first heard the Singularity is Near 10 or so years ago. It changed my who perspective and had proven to be so on point. Ray is amazing. Hope he and all of us can hang in there long enough to benefit from what the future of health, aging and intelligence have in store.

12. 32:05 people ARE concerned. People in power might not be. Regular people are. I personally find the lack of discussion around consent alarming. I don’t consent to this. Nor would most humans without being brainwashed and coerced via macro level socioeconomic pressures. I have no interest in merging with AI. Yet I will be forced to or be unable to even interact with people according to these predictions. Ironically, as an autist, I already am disenfranchised. So be it. But I am advocating here for the billions of regular people, and the trillions of non-human biological entities, tha are all being forced into dystopia because a few rich white dudes cant think I terms of a big picture , and therefore think this sounds like utopia.

16. It will benefit humanity. We have plenty of room on this planet, and birth rates are too low to sustain population. 95% of the lower 48 is barely populated. There are plenty of resources, and there will be a point where we can manufacture much of the materials we need. I have late stage cancer, but I've had it for 7.5 years. So odds are against me, but there's a chance. I just have to survive the next 5 years, then there should be more durable solutions.

22. so much confusion about consciousness. Having unique properties is not consciousness, it's diversity. Having some kind of "awareness" of internal state is a bit closer, but come on, reflect for a moment. The human phenomenon of consciousness is pretty manifestly about a sort of self-monitoring, self-modeling, planning loop that is deeply integrated with an emotional system that is largely represented in humans by hormones and the connection to the hypothalamus. When an AI can (or better, feels compelled to) practice Zen or some such meditative technique, I'll be ready to say yeah that resembles consciousness.

23. not sure if anyone will read this, but Kurzweils predictions have NOT been accurate..particularly in regards to longevity.
    He had stated many claims in his book with terry grossman around longevity which are no where near coming true.

28. Anyone who advocates for Universal Basic Income does not, by definition, understand how a healthy economy works. UBI is a subsidy under a naïve utopianist guise. The economy is an interlocking web of transactions, the basic unit being between two individuals or entities trading, for their mutual benefit, produced surpluses for the things they do not produce and by doing so they negotiate an acceptable exchange rate. UBI has "the system" give non-producers real goods and services for well … nothing! That's just a subsidy. One party opts out. That is not a healthy system of exchange. It didn't work in the Soviet Union and it won't work anywhere else better in the 21st century! The laws of economics are like those of mathematics – immutable! Sure you can subsidize for awhile until the economy soon reaches bankruptcy. Systems tend to conserve for their own health's sake and an AI system will be no different! Non- contributors to the exchange system will still be cut adrift!
