Eckhart Tolle explains why many meditation practices fail to go deeper. When meditation is treated as something you “do” to achieve a future result, it becomes another activity driven by time and the mind.

True meditation is not about effort or achieving a state—it is the realization of presence, the direct experience of being beyond thought. When the mind becomes quiet, what you are looking for is already here.

  1. No guru, no method, no teacher. Van Morrison says it all in the title of one of his many albums. Tolle is just another smooth operator making millions re-hashing philosophical teachings for a contemporary audience.

  2. Small correction – All the spiritual practices prepared the Buddha to Be, not Do. Like you said, it's a progression. A random guy is not going to sit under a Bodhi tree and get enlightened quickly. Buddha was still trying/ still doing … he had misunderstood the spiritual practices. When he gave up, he was able to relax completely. He had nothing in the past or the future. Just the present. As an enlightened master, he acquired a following and gave his interpretation.

  3. Why is meditation so much more complicated than a workout or a fast? Everyone from different cultures and schools of thought gives different advice, making it impossible to follow. We need a 'scientific makeover' for meditation that makes it as simple and accessible as Intermittent Fasting. No more 'bla bla,' just results.

  4. The truth about meditation they dont teach. Is that when you understand it, you can do consciously. I can meditate when I look around, watch the birds, and be still in the sounds

  5. Probably many people, perhaps most of the people, have to fully experience time, consciously, to transcend time. We need to completely surrend to time to go beyond time itself. If we can still the emptiness of eternity, we can transcend the duality of time and eternity. The ultimate realization is the coincidence of being and becoming

  6. This is such a bad look for Tolle. Mimicking meditators. We have been told for decades to sit and meditate for 30 minutes a day. This practice has been followed by millions and made lasting change. Now, it's become a caricature? There are countless other ways he could have gotten his point across without demeaning this scheduled practice.
