Pixar is known for making films that appeal to kids and adults alike, and plenty of grown-ups have been known to cry at the most emotional moments in Toy Story 3, Up, and Inside Out. Their 2020 film Onward is a charming family comedy about two brothers trying to reconnect with their father, but there are plenty of jokes and little details that will fly right over the kids’ heads.
While kids may notice the unique character designs and physical comedy, adults will be catching all of the ‘80s references and wondering why it feels more like DreamWorks than Pixar. Let’s take a look at some things that only adults notice in Onward.
