I grew up in Los Angeles where I learned to speak Spanglish. In fact, I’m a real Spanglish maven.
Kind of like Spanglish, except Spanglish is too inherent in people that participate in English and Spanish speech, so there’s no way it’ll ever develop into its own language
In Ontario we called using French and English interchangeably, fringlish.
I'm a native Yiddish speaker I'm not sure what he is saying but I'm happy that Yiddish is spoken about
new language before gta 6 is wild 😭😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
INTERESTING. THERE'S a isolated Yeshiva in the middle of nowhere, a few miles away, from where I live in rural Hertfordshire 🏴🇬🇧. SO, I wonder if it's happening here.
Cool, now we get to hear more dialogue options from the people who control us without our consent.
the first Yeshivish to english dictionary was published in 1994 and I grew up in the 90s speaking this, this is something that has been around decades in the Jewish community and is mainstream for decades. You are way way behind the time
Thanks for posting. A few years ago, I went to a shloshim with Sephardic friend. She was completely lost and didn’t find the speakers intelligible at all. I hadn’t noticed and that’s when I realized that yeshivish has various gradations and that people living in yeshivish communities constantly go up and down the slope of English to deepest yeshivish. And I hadn’t really noticed it to that extent before because I understand it! And it’s really funny when you hear yeshivish words penetrating Sephardic spaces too! This can happen because the children go to same schools or marriages between Ashkenazi and Sephardic people. It’s actually beautiful to hear an evolving natural mix of Sephardic and Ashkenazi terms and expressions in a family.
Yi-shit-vish? -nice
I only speak Hebrew and Arabic bc I’m a middle eastern Jew
We got a new language before GTA 6 😭
Yeshiva
But… no Ladino? (As in the Jewish dialect, not the modern language by the same name).
I love that the example sentence used a word that sounds yeshivish but wouldnt be used in that context ever. "Shabbos" is just sabbath or shabbat, its not a name
Ok, but Yeshivish isn't just spoken by bochurim, its out in the community as a whole as well. Yeshivish is just what the "judeo-english" spoken in the veldt is called.
go back to the pale
Jewish, Unique word order, new world order yeah it's all adding up
Ben Shapiro KENEGS liberal with FACTS and LOGIC!
This is probably evolving in English-speaking countries other the US as well – e.g. UK, Australia, South Africa.
Ahhhh!!!! I knew you were a yid!!!!! Ayyy
growing up I had a cd, and it had a bunch of Jewish songs, one of them about yeshivish. and the specific line that comes to mind was "Hebrew, English, Yiddish, a mixture of all three. and a dash of Aramaic, a linguistic potpourri."
Chabos wissen wer der babo ist amk
Can this guy calm down. He gets more and more aggressive every single video.
This is hilarious and also exactly what's going on in the dairy farm my dad works at – there are like 5 languages spoken there by workers (2 main ones and 3 minor ones), and they speak in a consistent mix with the simple rule of "shorter word wins" and this is actually hilarious
I speak English and a part of the Muslim community. I mix a lot of Arabic, Persian, and Urdu in English and write English in a modified English alphabet that is not meant for English at all. Example The Salafis are all kafirs ذه سلفیض ار آل کافرض
Judea delanda est
Btw, there’s a whole song about this that’s hilarious
hebrew and english but no yiddish/aramaic speaker here, these comments feel like im having a stroke
and Judeo Italian. they say Axalare instead of mangiare for example. from the hebrew word for foodeat. and countless more examples
Wow, I really didn't expect all the Yeshiva Bochrim in the comments.
Creole
I’m dofka shvitzing he chahp’d my narrishkeit. I’m a buki in yeshivish.
Abie Rottenberg wrote a song about this a ways back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od9-pn4LsLA Only your choice of using Shabbos as an idividual is kind of funny since it is not really used as a name.
נתניהו עזב את הישראלים וברח😂
Hebrew is a conlang so it's going to borrow from everywhere it's speakers come from because it's not a natural language.
Is this doomed Yuri?
American Hebrew was promised to them 3000 years ago
That's just how a Creole works.
Lol did you really ask if Orthodic Jews are secluded from wider society?
Wait, is that the Ineffable Plan, or just the Great one?
