Didn't Trump always say the "failing" Washington post or something similar? Maybe this was a way for them to get in his good graces who knows because everything SHE said was batshit. If I had a family member who spoke like Trump, I think I and everyone else in the house would tolerate it because we know he's diagnosed with something, but it wouldn't be normal because no one else we know is like this.

This linguistics expert went out of her way to put positive spin on Trumps lack of vocabulary, routine use of catch phrases for emphasis, poor grasp of the English language, etc. Whilst most would question Trumps self proclaimed genius status, she claims it's a concious effort to create a brand! I'm sorry I couldn't even get through the first 20 seconds of this. He talks like someone who received very little education on how articulate his thoughts or someone who is constantly in a daze or half asleep. I guess this appeals to people just like him.

I can remember after George W Bush became president his speeches were made fun of a lot by journalists and many others. He couldn't pronounce a lot of words and just plain didn't know much. He was a shyster like his father.

I don't know of anyone who speaks like Trump. That's why his way of expressing himself is so jarring. His vocabulary is limited in the extreme. He rambles often leaving entire sentences and/or thoughts dangling as though he's forgotten what he was about to say or couldn't express what he wanted to express. No, DJT definitely doesn't speak like the average person! What seems to appeal to those who support him is not his speech; it's his simplistic, black and white world view that attracts them. In other words, he offers simple answers to complex issues which is ideal for those who want facile, quick answers. They are perfectly willing to overlook his inability to speak eloquently in exchange for the simple minded solutions that he offers them.
