  1. Is this made for small children or why choose this distracting scifi space flight story frame? I would have much preferred more actual info on the experiment setup, comparison with how light was previously observed to behave in earlier experiments and explanation of what "observation" means (I mean somehow it must have been observed or else how would "we" know and so does it matter if we or a machine observes it, in the moment or later)? This was a light show and little more

  2. lmao and years later Neil himself debunked this. Saying the reason it changes it state is because of light. Can't take a measurement without light, and the light of course effects the particle.

  3. So Hubble is observing lights from various distant galaxies. Will it alter the photon of a distant galaxy from wave to particle? Means what we see is not what we expect to see?

  4. Most people learn the standard double-slit experiment with a simple takeaway: "Measuring the photon disturbs it, causing the wave function to collapse and making it act like a particle." It sounds like a mechanical disruption—like poking a wave with a stick.
However, the Quantum Eraser Experiment completely turns this intuition upside down.
Scientists set up an experiment where they did track which slit the photon went through (using entangled photon pairs), but later designed a system that permanently erased that path information. The mind-blowing result? When the path information was erased, the photons went right back to behaving like waves and formed an interference pattern on the screen.

  5. skip. hand-waving, narcissistic wannabe Sagan. and, yah, some minds can hold both wave and particle ideas at once. p.s. do you understand wave collapse and the observer effect? probably not. astrophyicists are sorta the new astrologers, and can't explain what the expanding universe expands into.

  6. I dont understand what do they mean by observe? Isn't it like the device used for observing it is causing it to behave differently resulting in different outcome?

  7. When we observe the experiment, we take photons from the environment and convert them into electrons in our eyes through a biochemical reaction. The question here is, what is a photon and how does it behave?

  8. The act of observation is an act of interference, by sending a detecting wave, we're basically manipulating the photon to 1 specific result.
It changes pattern when not observed because there's no frequency to manipulate the outcome. There's no longer any manipulation of the field that effects the results.

Observation is an interference in itself. E-Z

  9. There’s no evidence that consciousness plays any role in the double-slit experiment. A measurement requires a physical interaction. When a detector interacts with a particle passing through the slits, the particle becomes entangled with the detector, and the interference pattern disappears. This is a real physical effect, not a result of the particle somehow knowing it is being watched. If no physical process measures the path, the particle can remain in a superposition and an interference pattern is observed

  10. Greetings Time Travellors … In my over 50 years of electronics and physics studies I now believe the photon is a carrier ot the information from its source … just how it knows not to take the same path as its future photon is the real mystery !

  11. So people confuse "observe" as seeing it with an eye from the side(consciousness). But observe means to measure and alter the state . for example putting a spoon in the food u made is "observing" because now you have already altered the size of the food. not by looking at it from a distance and saying "I observed it with my consciousness."

The blame originally belongs to the founding fathers of quantum mechanics in the 1920s. When they wrote their papers, they used the English word "Observe" , they meant a macroscopic physical apparatus.

Instead,of explainijg what observe means in quantum dynamics . it is much more "bingable" to say: "The particle knows it is being watched. It changes its behavior just because you looked at it."

  12. Yes, what Neil deGrasse Tyson is claiming with his materialist perspective, that it is the measurement apparatus (the instrument used to observe the experiment) that causes the particles to collapse by introducing light, it is false and debunked belief.
All of this has been demonstrated in the experiment by Radin, D., Michael, L., Galdenze, K., Wendland, P., Rikenbach, R., Delorme, A. (2012), Consciousness and the double-slit interference pattern: six experiments, Physics Essays, 25, 157–171.
With evidence that it is not the hardwer to interfeer but the conscious observer

  13. Bullshit..you want to watch which slit it travels, you need light(illumination).and if you switch on that room light, the photons in the light interact with and it becomes particles.(Wave formation collapses)
