I Practice MT & IN Past I started off with TKD

  2. I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but based on my limited knowledge and experience, for regular self defence, with relatively low skill/high inebriation fighters, I would bet on Judo, BJJ or Boxing. It seems fights like these tend to become grappling very soon, and if there is stand up fighting, it will usually be with fists. I would also like to give a nod to Aikido, which often gets a a lot of ridicule from the various "experts" on Youtube. While it may not be a good choice for MMA style fighting, or real fights against skilled opponents, I believe that if practiced the right way, it can be a useful tool in more common self-defence situations.

Personally, I train Taekwondo these days, which I love. I also enjoyed Judo in my youth. For me, it is not primarily about self-defence, though. I have been able to avoid real fights all my life, and don't see that changing. in my opinion, the most important benefit of martial arts is self improvement.

  3. Such a biased bunch. So attacking the groins, throat and eyes is consider martial arts?. Your title should not include the word martial "ARTS" styles, it should just say "cheap shots self defense". Know the differences between "Arts" and "defense".

  4. Lol… dig deeper to the core of kali.. you might surprise that all your style was there.. krav maga is taken from it.. jet kune do is not a style of martial arts.. name any martial arts older than kali… even russian systema.. is as the same as unarmed kali….. core of kali won't use any weapon at all..

  5. 7/10ths is total bullshit. Judo is fine. So is Muay Thay. BJJ works, and I would pick it over the other two (if I could only pick one).
    This is another nonsensical video.

  6. Pencac Silat and Muay Thai are kinda dubious as self defense are they are meant to kill your opponent not to defend yourself. Muay thai may not be as lethal as Muay Boran but its still lethal and meant to kill. This list is almost total Bullshido

  7. Judo's 柔not means gentle way. It's soft way,not gentle and can be forceful but their force is not the dumb full hard direct crash force. It's more to use of maximum kinetic force sciense by using angle force and turning force which originate from Chinese martial arts.

  8. JU-JITSU OR Aki jitsu or better still free spirit ju-jitsu mixed kung fu. Give it all ya got mix it up and find whats best for you, we are all built and perform differently

  9. Is this about winning a fight? Or surviving a self-defense situation?

If it's a fight, pick your poison. If it's self defense, I go with tai chi. I've practiced tai chi for almost 20 years now, along with another twenty in kung fu, plus some tae kwon do, hapkido, judo and wrestling. Why tai chi? It may surprise you, but it's the same self defense philosophy as Krav Maga. Get inside, balls, throat, eyes.

As a side note, I use it in sparring every week and it's very effective against all kicking disciplines. Not as good vs Muay Thai and Wing Chun. The range doesn't bother them.

  10. Kyokushin is way overrated, you could have a better performance with something like Goju Ryu or Shotokan karate, Kyokushin only improves the body, but their technics are really lower tier if you compare them to any other Karate school.
