  1. Interestingly enough communism has a similar critique of capitalism; as workers don’t see themselves in the products they produce; and so are dissatisfied

  2. Way late here and this comment won't ever be seen, save for some random half asleep person scrolling through shit, but–yes, you would want to track the moon, as that is exactly what ancient cultures did.

  3. As someone who has read the Unabomber Manifesto, and currently his reading his later works, Ted Kaczynski is truly an underappreciated hero. No one cane agree with his violent actions, but his philosophical need to be explored upon. If we don't , we are doomed, which is sadly very likely.

  4. no matter how far we advance, i feel like the time we live in now which has pseudo balance between technology and natural existence is gonna be one of the best

  5. If dogs had developed bigger brains and become the dominant species on Earth first, they would've eventually developed the Internet.

I agree with Ethan. Progress, or perhaps more accurately improvement, is inevitable for sentient species.

  6. We are not losing the natural feeling of over coming challenges. We are in the midst of achieving a higher level on the hierarchy of needs. We are in an transition period.

  7. 8:42 Holy Fuck… that hit like a ton of bricks as soon as I realized what that meant… I don't think Michael even realized what he was saying… Suicide is a method of natural selection like it betters humanity, and not in the "haha you should kill yourself" kinda way….. Therapy and antidepressants are good and all… but longterm which is better?….. Ok…… I'm reeeeeeally depressed now…. fuuuuck. but at the same time… the minds of those who are disturbed to the point of debating suicide are often the most creative and "out of the box" thinkers they are the unique…. so the question I must ask is this, In a world that has only the minds that willingly submit to the social norm… can society ever evolve… and if, that were to happen… would that not actually be natural de-evolution?

fuck, this is why you don't watch vsause at 1 am

  8. re: new natural selection 9:41 "is everyone just like — the kind of mind that thrives in a corporate environment?" we already are? not saying everyone is like that, but aren't the richest most "successful" people in our tech-bio world thriving in a corporate / political environment already?

  9. So many people in this world have horrible diets, don't exercise enough. Hide from and avoid discomfort…..and you're asking why so many people are depressed?

  10. @ 1:20 we see a vulgar materialist argument. This argument downplays the conscious, active, role of people in the shaping of the modern world. This modern society was built by humans who possessed the faculties needed to build societies for millions of years. We didn't build societies until very recently because we lacked the knowledge of things needed to create and maintain a civilization.

Our constant struggle with nature led us to building modern societies.

  11. Ethan I did what your saying about how people need satisfaction and fulfillment. I think the best way to get that today is to make something for the sake of making.

  12. Unfortunately, what people won't recognize is what people who are demonstrably smart are satisfied with, which is usually sophisticated or creative activities. They also will say that we've evolved to do the things we've had to do for the longest time, but won't recognize that the same process is still going on. Nothing is outside of nature, even your pointless argument about staying a caveman is natures way of letting people figure out what evolution really entails.. The clever people, that is

  13. Video games like runescape and progressing your character give you this sense of fulfillment which is why I play runescape. Then it does hit that you wasted hours grinding something in a game that doesn’t actually get you anything in real life
