Lee Smolin is a theoretical physicist, co-inventor of loop quantum gravity, and a contributor of many interesting ideas to cosmology, quantum field theory, the foundations of quantum mechanics, theoretical biology, and the philosophy of science. He is the author of several books including one that critiques the state of physics and string theory called The Trouble with Physics, and his latest book, Einstein’s Unfinished Revolution: The Search for What Lies Beyond the Quantum.

Descarte's "full" version would not admit the existence of a brain. It is somewhat arbitrary to grant the existence of the brain but doubt the universe beyond the brain… re: "we have nothing to say about what nature would be in our absence" – does this imply that I have nothing to say about what happens to another person's brain in my absence? Isn't the real divide between me and everything else? Once one says "we" one has implicated the physical world in a potentially messy way.

I'm not certain that you can necessarily claim that technology improves our lives. Technology is like a collective form of tyranny. You don't resit it, you let it subsume you by default. One can ostensibly claim it does all sorts of things to improve their quality, health and status (in some ways it does) but they're more likely to frame it to be palatable. The addiction mechanism behind technology and marketing has already taken effect prior to the next 'instalment'. We are primed to abdicate our free will and agency to power

Is there not this scientist who has researched the perceptions of flys who have mistaken lemonade bottles as a female flys and constantly tried to have sex with empty bottles all over Australia? He argues that the evolutionary perceptions in our brains a.k.a 3 dimension perception, will never allow us to understand the true reality of anything.

And I see it this way as well. Science is a religion of our age and it’s very intrusive.
It may sound cliche, but if you smoke DMT, you definitely get the weird feeling, that something strange and completey different from the normal human perception/reality is going on.. and it feels very real, not like a hallucination at all. There´s the distinct feeling that some other dimension exists, that feels somehow alive, and indescribable.
What's really real is beyond what our minds can comprehend.
Leave your brain and all knowledge behind, visit nothing and everything at the same time, and you will experience what is really real…
Dreams seem real until you wake up or become lucid inside them. Its the same kind of thing in "real life", but its on the scale of the collective mind rather than personal mind. Once you fully realize in a physical and emotional way (and not just intellectually) that self-identity is just a convenient illusion rather than an actually solid "thing", the question of what is "real" becomes much more intimately workable.

Which way is up?
If some Particle Spins to the Left, we must have an Up and Down, otherwise a rightside up Left Spin is an Upside Down Right Spin. I expect Science has determined some method to determine Up from Down to determine Spin Orientation, but I have often been Wrong.
