In this video I talk about the future of the architecture business.
Will there be any jobs for architects, and how will AI (Artificial Intelligence) effect our industry.

  1. You are right in every sense. But, and architects can position themselves as psychologists, but sooner or later AI will come for that position as well. What you need to do, when it comes to survival, is that you should sit at the top of the food chain, if you are the disruptor instead of disruptee, architects can feel much more at ease.

  2. Hi Balkan Architect, would you mind showing how to bring a Revit design into a real life streetscape please, in AutoCAD or Photoshop, or your preference.

  3. There will be always a plenty room for options. Even today some clients prefer what everybody else have instead of having something unique to them… I almost never design family houses, but when someone forces me, I tend to introduce them into the evergrowing world of catalogue houses, because it is the viable option. The results of AI designs is and still will be very predictible and how I see it, the most advantage of it would be the security of avoiding mistakes. So the combination of architect´s human approach with software´s watching over your mistakes looks to be the future. I would call it Computer Aided Designing if it wasn´t called this way since forever… 🙂
Nice topic, thanks a lot!!! Do good, be great!

  4. Declining manpower , just like driverless cars and trains , Drones in mapping no more surveyors required. I think theres gonna be no more need for pychological architects either , coz they can put artificial logic into machines like genres/styles accordingly demands of clients

  5. I think that one strong aspect of architect's existence is tied in the first part of the word architecture. Now, for as long as we will manifest art and its uniqueness in our society, God will still exist in detail and we humans are the ones that know the significance of that detail in space. Once the detail becomes repetitive and lacks cultural and local characteristics/ conditions that means art is no longer utilizing its true purpose consequently architects are not needed.

  6. I don't think the industry is completely Doom at least not in Jamaica hear I'm one of the BIM pioneer in the AEC industry plus architecture any form of construction has a certain feel that only a human can really put that touch to it one could even call it a humaninzed architecture that that can be a lot to robot… Para metric design makes it easier however it's that human feel imagination that brings architecture to life..

  7. Firstly you are awesome, secondly, in the future, yes the AI might take over our manual work we do for drafting a building, but as you said, there might be unlimited options that it might generate.

That's where we the humans intervene and place our so called soul by making it deliberately imperfect. I don't know if you might agree to this but there is an essence of art in owning something that you know has imperfections, it almost gives us purpose so that we can work on it, so we can chase the dream of it being perfect. Living in a perfect world (with perfect buildings) would require a shift in our mindset. (How could we then, start a conversation in the elevator to, complain to our neighbors about the leaky pipes?)

  8. AI can be implemented for low cost modular housing for the homeless, and in 3D printing shelters for victims of natural catastrophies. However, in the general sphere of architecture, I believe it should not be implemented. Employers should stop thinking only about the bottom line and should focus on employing people and reducing the unemployment rate.
I also believe the vast majority of people would prefer architects over AI for designing their dreams.

  9. I do not think that AI will soon replace architects. The great tutorials that you make will probably do, by teaching noobs like me how to design your own house.
    keep it up!
Can you create a tutorial on how to copy parameters from one connection to another? simply duplicating a connecite does not work.

  10. AI can't imagine the way we human imagine the world or buildings in the infrastructure. They can copy our talent but can't make new genius talent for it.

  11. I am looking forward to a Revit add-in that can tap into building codes across several regions and provides real-time guidance accordingly, while designing your model in accordance with a specific building code.

  12. good subject. i use to call it Intelligent Agents. And we will soon Agents Aided Design (AAD)-apps that will help us create knowing / using / connecting all the data that are available – materials, price, regulation, user experience etc. The architect will be more like the designer and as u described it he will be doing the user experience improvement on AI scenarios. We will still need architectes but we far less to achieve the same tasks than we are seeing today. I think the real challenge will be being able to use the right material, for the right place at the right size and being the most sustainable possible on every aspect of the design. I'm writing an article on the topic. will keep u posted

  13. Hello I'm a recently graduated architect. I enjoy your videos. In this video I noticed a very interesting observation about the future of architecture or more specifically the role of human architects in future architecture. What I've come across through my experience is that Intelligent non human things have great efficiency but it also has limitations. Of course architecture requires a lot of math, technical data but some data's cannot be generated (as far as i know) such as emotion, feelings, memories. My perspective is that architecture is void without those unexplainable data's. So perhaps Architects who cares are always safe. Now having clients with same passion is a whole new story.

Anyway just sharing my thoughts regarding this issue. I've learned a lot from your videos, Thank you.

  14. I hope the AI software coming will provide an opt for people who have a talent for designing homes without necessarily being an architect.

  15. Hey I love it! Thanks for your enthusiasm! You should check out my new series called WHAT ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL DOES NOT TEACH YOU. As a recent Architecture graduate, I've gathered so many lessons and stories of my past that I wish to pass on to others to encourage them to seek their truth! It's all about Architecture, mindfulness, Psychology, Self-Discovery, the future of our profession….our profession is undergoing a massive shift and I like to call it 'the conscious architecture movement'. It would be really great @Balkan Architect if we could stay in touch, perhaps collaborate in the future and support each other! I believe our Architecture profession the way it works today needs an upgrade which means raising awareness within and around us as much as possible! What do you think? Oh btw: I'd really appreciate a FOLLOW from you. 🙂 Stay in touch!

  16. Odlican video, I Like the idea of architects being psychologist to be able to meet their client's demands perfectly by getting to know their personality
