Yujin Nagasawa – Is Consciousness Ultimate Reality?

Closer To Truth

Is consciousness deepest reality, the ground of being of the cosmos? If the question is “What brought all into existence?” the answer is “Consciousness”. Some say this is a ‘cosmic consciousness’ of which our personal consciousness is a small part. Others, that the ultimate consciousness is God. Others, that consciousness and cosmos are both deep reality.

  1. Infinite matter from nothing is impossible, but within a dream the illusion of infinite matter is possible, the physical universe is a dream within universal consciousness.

  2. Has Yujin Nagasawa studied Catholic theology? I think it makes the most sense of these concepts of consciousness. It masterfully articulates consciousness as one of the attributes of God who is outside the material universe but has his indelible imprints in it. The Ultimate reality that is distinct from the universe but at the same time is intimately related to it. As Saint Augustine aptly puts it, God is “interior intimo meo et superior summo meo,” which simply translates to God as more closer to me than I am to myself while at the same time higher than anything I could possibly imagine. That's the true God, the creator of all things.

  3. Not physical doesn't mean that it is not governed by science!
rather means that humans have limited mental capabilities not able to grasp it.
What's energy? How many types of it humans don't know? it doesn't look rational way of thinking! because the irrational animals have similar aspect! not physical then doesn't exist! The same consciousness physical or it's just an illusion, so easy! Life is much easier this way!

  4. "If there are things that cannot be explained by physichal theories, even in principle, then it seems that physicalism is false." Damn. That quote has made me even more sure that there's more to reality then just physichs. I feel like science tries to avoid talking about consciousness, because it sounds like religion or something. I think they feel as if they're going against physichs by trying to explain something that seems meta physichal or super natural. They just say that consciounsess happens because of neurons, atoms and whatever else there is in the brain, but there's no proof of why consciousness exists. Consciousness is such a mystery, and even the greatest scientist can't prove it, not even in theory. So maybe science isn't at a high enough level to even come close to explaining consciousness. To me consciousness is so much different from anything. You could say it's an energy, but it's not any of the energies we know of: Kinetic, potential, heat, nuclear, sound, light, chemical and elastic. I mean none of these energies act out of their consciousness, they act because of the laws of physichs. But I'm able to act on my own, I'm not controlled by laws of physichs, I'm only limited to the laws of physichs.

  5. I think hes explaining the position of non-physicalist monism which he either forgot or doesnt know is the actual name of the position.

  6. Conclusion about our true identity from various internet sources, that "We are all One Consciousness" for the following reasons:

    2. It would be very boring / boring if our physical form is only one in this world.

    3. It would be very tedious / boring if all humans have the exact same physical form / behavior.

    4. Try to imagine emptying all the physical things around us, leaving only the humans, then eliminating all the humans, leaving only the memories, then erasing all the memories, leaving only the consciousness, then connecting the consciousness, feel who we are ??.

    32. Everything we experience by our senses in the end will only be electrical impulses in the brain, is everything real ??. We are beings who are aware that we are conscious.

    35. There is no reincarnation, it is possible that our consciousness is synchronized, our consciousness is divided by the speed of light so that consciousness can move and divide rapidly through energy, and that's why we need sleep, that's why we are often not aware of something, that's why the size of the earth is reached by the speed of light so that consciousness is divided quickly and evenly, we are like some chess pieces played by a player, that's why if we move at the speed of light, then we can penetrate the dimensions of space and time, when we die we wake up and regain consciousness as long as there are humans who live in this world.

    49. Congratulations, because all of you need proof, this is the SECRET that we are one, by we can see the other person's awareness of what he is seeing, close your eyes in a quiet place, focus your awareness on that person, so that awareness is not affected by our imagination, erases all our imaginations, practice continuously until the time comes when our awareness can see the consciousness of others, preferably people we already know.

  7. Idealism can actually explain why the physical universe exist despite it being a mental construct. It is the product of deeper conscious level called the superconscious which restricts our perception of reality.

Think of it this way, your beliefs restrict the conscious actions you can do. If you are a vegetarian, you are not able to eat meat despite being perfectly able to. Your beliefs is what restricts your actions from eating meat and just telling yourself you can eat meat doesn't mean it will happen especially if it has become your lifestyle. You need a strong will and willingness to break that lifestyle. In the same way, the deepest part of consciousness which is the superconscious are beliefs that restricts us in only seeing this universe. This requires intense concentration to break it and allow us to perceive a higher reality which is the reason why monks meditate. It isn't easy but it is doable. There are shortcuts which are drugs and NDE which does the same thing of breaking the perception that we are limited humans within a physical universe.

  9. No, I disagree, science has yet not explained everything , YET, but its very very close and everything seems spiritual until its underlying principle is discovered. One day perhaps soon enough we will have the theory of everything that will explain everything from consciousness to back holes to very nature of reality.

  10. According to Advaita Vedanta there is a state prior to consciousness. In this state there is no sense of recognition, no concepts, no knowledge, no being. This is the original source of the “I” prior to consciousness whereby being is recognised and becomes the “I am”. Everything that is alive is the same consciousness just operating at different levels of awareness. And right now consciousness is dreaming the dream of you. You are not even human you are just a point of awareness through which the universe is temporarily experiencing life. Because you have a body and an ego you know yourself to be human but strip away all the layers and you will see this for the illusion it is. I believe consciousness is universal but I don’t believe it is the ultimate reality. If you follow it all the way back to its source you will find the absolute, namely absolutely nothing but still you are

  11. I think the weakness in the views expressed in this discussion, is that we are beginning to realise that nearly all of the countless trillions of trillions of stars ( suns) in the universe have a solar system, just as our sun has. Therefore there are bound to be creatures out there who have evolved consciousness, just as we have. Their consciousness will be different to ours.
Therefore to say that OUR consciousness is the ultimate reality cannot be true. Having said that. I too think that there's more to this world than the eye can see.

  12. People that haven't experienced magic, that mystical things had not occur in their own time…well they wonder. If they knew of the magic, not metaphorically speaking, neither I'm talking about trickery, or amusement, but inexplicable and real magic, if they knew… So… you can't explain unity with the mind because mind itself is dual, understandig requires codes, yet as conciousness expand is simpler and don't need this structural expression, it goes through more visceral movements to a no spacetime-conciousness distinction state, a state withouth location nor volume, no light or darkness no sound or silence, no thoughts or feeling. A state imposible to describe, or to name or to talk about. So you'll not find it with abstract thinking or with experiments. Only through experience. I know this by my own. And I have seen conciousness manifest in artistic ways through systems bigger than humans or other similar living beings on other planets of the universe. True man I, seen. Conciousness of the universe expressed in fiscal, not materialized by living beings but from spacetime itself.

  13. idealism takes many forms. the actions of a person are held at a culturally accepted standard with minor modifications that people sum up as their individuality where they tend to steer away from their mainstream ideology. However idealism doesn't negate physical reality. How can it if physical reality informs what decision they have to make concerning the action. otherwise idealism would be an achievable fact vs this unachievable idea vs reality that is ultimately dystopian due to conflicting ideology and individualism. my perception of reality will often differ from others who are presented the same information. that is partly nurture made to shape the perception of our nature. If I were to sum up the mind I would compare it to a computer where the information programmed within gives you the outcome of the response. the more variable information within the more likely you will be able to come up with a more creative response. Semantically speaking I would say consciousness doesn't fully manifest until someone is capable of creating something new. Otherwise your just a piece of contradictory propaganda. even if the information is factually based the truth of the matter is that the information is subjective and truth can be variable to an individual. This is why polarization is prevalent in America where religious freedom reigns. on the right an idealism of irrefutable religious beliefs that inform the decisions of a Republican party vs a divided group of minorities with many religious belief systems and an incoherent direction that tries harder to be an inclusive globalist society that would require a politically correct atmosphere of culturally acceptable practices recognized by many. but idealism deals in absolutes and in some cases these ideals are sought to extremism. sometimes to violence due to the inability to accept the sovereignty of other belief within the melting pot. Christianity also suffers from this. the only difference being how the majority controls what is acceptable cultural practice.
This is an argument of power and who writes the narrative. It's harder to control the masses today because media capability has been put into everyone's hand. Individualist beliefs have never been more on display than today and it will only increase with time. This may most likely be why the race for quantum supremacy is underway. whoever creates a system that can be programmed with all the information and every ideology the more likely we can have justice system comprised of universal beliefs that we would determine as our inaliable rights. Or a complete transfer of belief systems in general due to data extracted. regardless the overall goal is to take the flawed human aspect out of our justice system and to instill a third party to unite the people under a common system. granted the supremacy doesn't perceive human kind as a threat to itself. we are still a long way from this moment but China as of yesterday achieved quantum supremacy with a system specifically designed to answer one question that otherwise would have taken others millions of years to answer.
If a system were designed to explore probability of human behavior and the mind were connected to a network storing data on your thoughts and experiences you'd find yourself in a future similar to minority report. a big brother system that predicts how well you might assimilate to the system. It might even be capable of programming how you perceive a situation.
To talk of consciousness in the aspect of a religious concept I would have to surmise my personal take given the biased knowledge I have. BTW all belief systems are biased they naturally do this by setting up socially accepted practices vs taboo. In my mind however this appears as a purely human distinction. If belief in a creator is truly logically thought about you would have to conclude that the creator of all would have to encompass all things including any polarization of the human experience both mentally and physically. meaning to the creator good vs evil are just aspects of God. the separation between them mostly has to do with mankind's universal belief in the preservation of life.
To an all encompassing God he cannot differentiate himself from either side. To do so is to give equal power to both sides in which case the argument for one creator becomes an argument for multiple creators concerning why we live in dystopia.
If I were to put myself in the shoes of god during creation I would first separate the aspects of myself into multiple forms with which I would construct "reality" meaning every conscious entity is an aspect of God combining many amalgamations of perceptions and truths to experience himself in many forms. we in essence are unexplored probabilities of a system discovering it's best course I'n understanding itself. But through language we semantically, constantly, separate to conceptualize what something is from what it is not. concepts of creation such as the big bang or holographic universe all support this. meaning in truth we are all created equally and the information we gain and utilize is truly the ultimate form of becoming more like God. We perceive this as free will. In truth you are technically possessed by existing ideologies to varying degrees much like a probability equation with each individual being a varying degree of an outcome. Similar but different.
This concept goes back into almost every civilization in our past. you look at places like the richat structure in N.W. Africa as the possible location of the mythological city of Atlantis and see that its in a region named Mauritania after Poseidons children. You have to scratch your head and go. huh If records show that this place was an advanced civilization named for what was considered a deity then we have to accept the possibility that this individual may have actually existed as a man who explored an idea to perceived "absolute" fruition, at least to a civilization who may have used different definitions or semantic choice of words for description. maybe he mastered manipulating waterways and a central hub for trade becoming a "God of the sea". the point being that there is a definitive contrast to today's belief systems and semantic choice of words that shape the foundations of our belief systems. We as consciously aware entities are in constant flux through time and are subject to popular belief as the basis for our perception. Every time something new is learned or discovered as a definitive fact the next generation gets one more puzzle piece with which to construct their perception to the eventuality of all that is possible being actualized within existance.
Why? I would purpose if I were a singular entity who stated "I think therefore I am." I would explore what I am through all that is possible through me. we could potentially be pieces of a collective consciousness trying to ascertain what it is. Since such a being wlcould exist outside the realm of this universe time would be relative. Our lives may have already played out and we are merely the characters going through the motions.
If this entity is concerned with how they came to be it may even simulate a "history leading to it's existance. like a symbiotic relationship. If A.I. simulating a universe recreates the events that led to life how would the entities within know the difference between being a replica of a base reality? You wouldn't conceptually we would be as comparable as a two dimensional being perceiving our dimension as more through our conscious perceptions.
Through our perception we live in this world of 3 dimensions but I ask if you can perceive 1 or even two dimensions and the answer is yes. a singular point would be to our perception infinitely small our entire 3d construct is stacked 2 dimensional planes of infinite length. perhaps if we zoomed out far enough away from the universe it would potentially become one dimensional. maybe the 4th dimension expressed geometrically as a tesseract is perhaps an indication of this fact. that dimensions are relative to size.
We know conscious perception is an inaccurate evaluation just through the study of light.
We think we perceive all light in realtime
meaning that to us light appears instantaneously. but light has a speed meaning all reflections of it are merely past reflections off of an object. If you were staring at Earth from mars every second the light hit your eyes would effectively be 3 and a half seconds older than when it left the earth at light speed. A star billions of light years away is extinguished from your sky tonight. technically that star hasn't been around for billions of years. If you knew the distance in light years you'd know exactly how many years ago it died.
Died is a funny word we use to describe solar objects that otherwise don't actually have a "life" or do they? Perhaps we haven't semantically separated that terminology yet or otherwise I'm just not educated on what the semantic choice is.
I'll leave you with one last thought since you read this far. hopefully my thought are written coherently.
If we made a Computer to simulate creation and it simulated exactly up until it's own creation at what point is a single second divided infinitely upon itself. Or at what point does time freeze in base reality relative to our experience in time as a simulation.
