  1. Can mindfulness helps with anxiety & it’s uncomfortable symptoms? Recently developed anxiety. Overly stressed. Apparently tinnitus fr anxiety. My hearing is really good. 2 different ENTs thinks that once my anxiety subsides the tinnitus will go away. I’m ready for it to go.

  2. BULLSHIT, A CHEAP PACKAGED RIPOFF! (See the Article Link further down, in this review) Western Mindfulness is, nothing more than this, a ripoff of the thousands of years old Traditional Eastern Meditation techniques. Jon Kabat Zinn did not create it, although he certainly tries to take the credit for it.

    Mindfulness and meditation are strongly associated with the east, India/China. Jon Kabat Zinn ripped it off and brought it to the States, in order to mass package and distribute it, to the west. JON KABAT ZINN'S goal is to sell it, like some cheap commercial product.

    Just one more/another of the many ripoffs, such as Yoga, from the eastern traditions. This is a total insult to the Religious ways of the Eastern cultures. (Western Mindfulness, is a highly watered down product of the true purpose of it. What ZINN has done, is equivalent to repackaging the contents of the Bible, selling it, and calling it his own creation. (MAJOR BLASPHEMY! AN ULTIMATE SIN!)

    Jon Kabat Zinn, should be ashamed of himself, portraying himself as some sort of Holy Guru. He is nothing of the sort, he is an obvious capitalist, exploiting mindfulness for profit.

    The greatest threat to the true purpose of mindfulness/meditation, is that corporations, which, are now heavily promoting it's use, within their organizations, is to reduce the stress in their workers, that buy into it, so in turn, the corporations can turn around, and thus, work employees even harder, piling more stress/work/duties, on them. (In other words, it is being used by corporate America to get more work out of it's workers.)

  3. I think Mindfulness practice might be strengthened with the assistance of cognitive behaviour therapy for some mental disorder such as depression and anxiety disorder. Sometimes I feel it is quite difficult to calm my mind only by mindfulness in certain circumstances.

    Mindfulness means pay attention what's happening here and now, but it doesn't rearrange thinking itself. But cognitive therapy can us a toolkit that think what the situation give us critically and rationally. Both practices will be best when they are used together..

    Wonderful that these fast amazing results have affected so many patients. this will surely be a growing way in the future. in this noisy ,distracting, frustrating, unstable,separated society.

  5. Is mindfulness a fraud?

    No, but its explanation is, and that means a lot.

    Here’s how. Simply put, mindfulness is ‘choice less’ awareness in the present moment. A dramatic reduction in somatic arousal or relaxation is one of its hallmark results. However, this relationship between choice reduction and relaxation was also posited in the 1950’s by the influential Dollard-Miller theory of anxiety. The psychologists John Dollard and Neal Miller noted that anxiety occurs as a secondary ‘drive’ that impels people to avoid ongoing perseverative choice conflicts such as rumination, worry, and distraction. Because it helps us to avoid ‘no win’ cognitive scenarios, anxiety is thus rewarded or reinforced. Avoid cognitive perseveration, and you will feel relaxed.

    Mindfulness of course eliminates cognitive perseveration, but it also eliminates non-perseverative choices as well. So while being mindful you avoid worry, rumination, and distraction, but you’re also not thinking about what to have for dinner or the nature of the universe either. And here’s the rub for mindfulness and why as a remedy for stress it is overkill. Mindfulness simply over-prescribes the cognitive events that need to be avoided to achieve relaxation. All you need to do to be relaxed is avoid consistently perseverative thoughts, and to do that you don’t need to be mindful, but simply apply some simple mental hygiene. This is not good news for the billion dollar mindfulness industry, but sometimes facts can bite hard when you kick the tires on silly new age nostrums.

  6. My concern is mindfulness is becoming commercialized and, as of today (9/20/15) there are too many people making this seem a panacea. MBSR works to help you Chang eyour relationship to your life through your own discipline with the practice. It takes time and is no quick fix.

    Hopefully we as a culture can follow his example. We've made a mess of the world, both internal and external.

  11. I feel an incredible appreciation for JKZ, as a result of his work and that of Vidyamala Burch, it has enabled me to live well and teach others how to reduce their suffering. Watching this video reminds me of the requirement for an open heart, patience and courage – to be with my own suffering and the suffering in the world. Thanks JKZ – this is an incredible lineage to be a part of.

  12. I've practiced mindfulness meditation for over a year now and it has made a big difference. I started because i kept getting severe depressions and had to be hospitalized three times in the last two years. Now i am off the antidepressants and finding psychotherapy more useful/insightful than before.
