Dr Muhammad Ibrahim H. I. Surty
(b. 1941) B. A. (Hons.) MA; PhD. (London)
Dr Surty served several years in the University of Sokoto as Reader and Head of the Department of Islamic Studies. He is a retired senior lecturer, Department of Theology and Religion, University of Birmingham and the founder, Chairman and Director of QAF, a registered charity.
His works include: •Adab al-Qadi two vols • The Qur’an and al-Shirk •A Course in ‘Ilm al-Tajwid: The Science of Reciting the Qur’an (with three audio CDs) • Muslims’ Contribution to the Development of Hospitals •The Qur’anic Concept of God •The Most Comprehensive Qur’anic Verse on Socio Economic Ethics and its Relevance to Modern Life • Islam: the Qur’anic Overview (5th Revised and enlarged edition) • Qur’anic Arabic: A Manual Teaching Arabic Through the Qur’an (with DVDs covering all 16 Lessons) (4th edition)
He has contributed several articles on different Islamic themes in the literary journals and participated in a number of international seminars. He taught to both undergraduate and graduate students and introduced a few Courses. With him over 50 students wrote their M.A. dissertation.
33 students obtained Ph.D and 12 students M.Phil degrees under his supervision from the University of Birmingham. He is heavily involved in teaching, research and Community work.
