A Life of Isms: Post-truth, The Simpsons & Postmodernism

So 2016 was a fantastically shitty year, and everyone wants to know the reason why. So I’ll throw my hat in the ring.

In today’s episode, with some help from our favourite four-fingered yellow skinned family, we’ll learn about post-truth, postmodernism, and that the way things are now has been a looooong time coming.

As regards something to replace postmodern ambivalence, while adding the finishing touches to this video, I stumbled across “The New Sincerity.” While it doesn’t have the balls that modernism had, it’s a start.

All work that is uncredited I will rectify if notified. I believe that given the transformative nature of this work, it falls under Fair Use.

  1. Post modern academia PROMOTES relativism, Foucault, and manipulation of data as a compulsory aspect of the syllabus. It's quite simply lying. How can these academics be taken seriously when hard evidence is demanded from their opponents but irrelevant to them on the basis of context and relativity? Well, what ends up happening is the student, having no grand narrative or objective standard to substantiate his claims, he is rendered subservient to the arbitrary claims of the lecturer, and the lecturer is rendered subservient to the arbitrary claims of the academic hierarchy.

    DO you understand?

The academic hierarchy (which is a lot more monolithic and institutional than many academics are willing to admit) is immune to the relativist debate. A commitment to relativism is merely a weapon to be used against dissent so that the doctrine of the institution is left by default.

For example, the feminist claim that women endure more violence than men. Rampant in post modern academia and highly retarded. Objectively it is not true. Post modernism is just used as a tool to redefine and skew and corrupt the integrity of the data on the subject and to delegitimize the opponent of this notion. "oh but violence can be interpreted in many ways" says the academic. "and because it can be interpreted in many ways, your interpretation is no better than my own interpretation. Therefore we will stick with my interpretation which confirms my point on the basis of nothing."
