City-Regionalism and Infrastructure in the USA – Andy Jonas

Geography and Planning Cardiff University

Professor Andy Jonas,
University of Hull, Dept of Geography,
Environment and Earth Sciences

Tuesday 8th October 2013

Public lecture hosted by the Innovation and Engagement Unit.

This lectures connects city-regionalism to struggles around the funding of infrastructure inside the competition state.

Drawing on examples from the USA, it examines the variety of city-regional assemblages involved in delivering urban economic development and the collective provision of infrastructure.

It argues that city-regionalism is a particular expression of the contingent ‘geopolitics of capitalism’.
