  1. If kindness and consciousness has indeed "developed" how is the invasion of Iraq in 1991 and 2003, under false pretences, the killing of at least one million Iraqis and a separate 500,000 Iraqi children from sanctions, to be explained? How is the degradation of Earth from 200,000 chemicals, the epidemic extinction of species with our own in the near future forecasted? And that's just part of it. All our senses, including ESP, were intended for our development as human beings – just as all species are given traits for the same purpose. It was a gift, nothing else. If there is a God they don't need us. We failed miserably in not seeing the gift, and the means to sustain it.

  2. Lovely ! Wisdom that most of human still are in denying . What is consciousness ? To have the awareness of all the choices / alternatives you have and then to choose ? I admire your work Dr Rupert. Amazing. And I am a simple woman / mother and my search for wisdom/consciousness took me here and now I enjoy your conferences available online. Thank you 🙏

  3. morphic resonance theory. CTMU (as i understand it) predicts that the universe is conscious and reality itself is a sort of self-referrential language. sounds similar to "nature's habits." i would love to see these two philosophers of science put their heads together and compare notes

james lovelock and howard bloom could attend the conference also. make it so

  4. If you would clone a climbing plant and place it in exact same conditions as its predecessor, would its tendrils climb the same way? Or would its clone decide differently where its tendrils are searching to grip on or is it all in its genes and conditions?

  5. that's a really interesting idea that consciousness is really only the things that are not yet habitual. therefore, the most conscious part of the universe is the part that's discovering the new, never before done things — the possibilities. that's where most of the consciousness of the universe exists. hmmm

  6. I imagine Rupert Sheldrake knows about Sir Roger Penrose's ideas about consciousness. I wonder if both scientists see things the same way?

Penrose has written books on the connection between fundamental physics and human (or animal) consciousness. In The Emperor's New Mind (1989), he argues that known laws of physics are inadequate to explain the phenomenon of consciousness. Penrose proposes the characteristics this new physics may have and specifies the requirements for a bridge between classical and quantum mechanics (what he calls correct quantum gravity).

  7. If that's Sheldrake's library in the background, I'd love to peruse the books, though I probably wouldn't understand the titles of most of them.

  8. Another great talk that got the cogs of this bird brain turning in cogitations of delight! Plants are definitely conscious. They always responded much better to my mother, who had the green thumb, than to me, who just wasn’t as tuned in to be their needs. Plants and animals are just differently conscious; they have an awareness of their environment and act with intelligence. Even bacteria are able to develop resistance to antibiotics, and some have turned into superbugs. The bacteria in our gut have a great influence on our immune system, as well as our physical and mental wellbeing. Intelligent behaviour must be evidence of conscious. The Secret Life of Plants is an excellent book, along with The Hidden Life of Trees, and The Inner Life of Animals, both by Peter Wohlleben. An inner life is evidence of consciousness.

  9. When you conceive of your relationship with the universe as I-It (Buber's terms), possibilities are deadened and unresponsive. When you relate to the universe as "I-Thou", all of existence becomes responsive, like a dance with a partner beyond understanding.
