Francesco Pico’s Magnitude Recordings continues it’s comeback with a brand new EP from Ezequiel Anile & Nicolas Petracca. Now recording under their EANP alias the duo are fresh off an EP for Just Movement and a contribution to MNL’s ‘Seasons | Spring 2018’ collection. Their debut for Magnitude is entitled ‘Cubism’ and comes alongside a remix from Chris Cargo.

The studio synergy these two Argentinean artists have is quite amazing and thus their ability to craft pure progressive bombs seems to come with ease. The first cut ‘Lyrical Abstraction’ is a dark, psychedelic stormer geared for peak time play. It’s chuggy groove is immediately infectious while a strong percussive complement adds immense drive. The break brings a more sinister feel with a processed vocal narrative which perfectly builds anticipation towards a killer drop.

The title and showcase piece ‘Cubism’ lowers the tempo a bit but the chuggy, dance floor appeal remains sky high. Rhythmic and spacey in all the right ways, the piece strips down to a cavernous break full of wispy motifs, before transferring energy back into the lowend for a groovy finale.

The third and final selection ‘Visor Life’ is full of great bounce and flow. Offset stabs work in conjunction with a simple arp while haunting atmospheres set a gorgeous backdrop. Out of the three it’s got the most classic or old school feel with a groove that sounds like Sasha & Digweed circa 2002.

The lone interpretation on the release is provided by Chris Cargo who puts his own unique spin on the title track ‘Cubism’. The Irish artist seems like a perfect fit for the track and the results certainly dictate that. The dark, driving undertone that Chris’ productions have sound remarkably fresh here and the effects storyboard is to die for. Very eerie, almost soundtracky in a way and the main break is just otherworldly, perfectly dialling in a wonderfully warped finale. A killer remix from Chris which rounds out a massive second release back for Francesco Pico’s Magnitude Recordings. HIghly Recommended.
