Four years ago, I asked myself, “What’s going to happen when a Ghostwriting AI comes along that can auto-generate entire books in an author’s voice in minutes?”
So I became the first professional Ghostwriter to bring Stylometry, the data science of author voice, into my craft. I wasn’t giving any machine learning tutorial for beginners, but I knew I had to do what I could to keep up with artificial intelligence institution Open AI Elon Musk, its founder.
Well, it seems the future arrived sooner than I expected. The world has gotten a glimpse at the the future of publishing, the future of books, and the future of the book and the future of writing itself with the Open AI project GPT-3.
As Ed Leon Klinger shows in his GPT 3 demo and GPT 3 examples thread (found here https://twitter.com/edleonklinger/status/1284251419172909057), a general AI is here. The OpenAI Elon Musk project skyrockets existing publishing industry trends into the future. Imagine typing a few ideas, topics, and stories – even something as short as a writing prompt – into this machine learning software, and the thing gives you a finished book. Or blog post. Or article. Or white paper. In seconds.
Applied artificial intelligence in publishing, rather than bringing machine learning projects that doom the ghostwriting profession will, I believe, offer an opportunity for ghostwriters to upgrade their talent stack.
In 2030, ghostwriters will not just have writing samples, they will have GPT 3 samples; they will boast of publishing industet knowledge but also GPT 3 OpenAI experience.
Book publishing and the world as a whole is about to get weird. Real weird.

This is WILD. I’m not sure how I think this will affect the world. We will either harness this for good, or we’ll become mindless slaves.
Honestly, though, as a lawyer…I wouldn’t mind my job becoming obsolete.
i'm scared as a content creator..
Great video, I think your conclusions are spot on. Thanks.
need that dark mode
This is great… Now I don't need to write a movie script, ai gunna give me a wild film… Lol how would ai rewrite terminator lmfao
I for one welcome my future overlord AI when we get to the next few versions down the track.
that reminds me to the 80s and 90s. Everyone was excited about the possibilities of the new chess programs. They would surely enhance human capabilities, scrutinize positions etc. In a relatively short period trhis came true and mucg more. The silicon capabilities ware way better than their human counterparts. Today there is such a giant gap between human and machine chess, and now it is ridiculuous to compare them. Ghostwriters will go the same path. Anything other is a delusion…
AI already writes books and music and movies….what are you talking about?
The death of creativity. Well done.
I hate this. But give it to George R.R. Martin RIGHT… F***ING… NOW…!
What’s the point for creatives anymore? Will we be made obsolete?
AI dungeon uses this and it is UNREAL.
AI is a scapegoat to enforce UBI (~2045). AI is disguised as communism, why?
Here's why- currently to create a web app you need web developers but in the near future any person can create an app by just typing in what they want into a textbox and the ai generates the code and creates the app.
Egalitarianism takes away people's genetic/divine gifts and distributes it out, so that everyone can have it.
Communism will make everyone poor because there won't be any demand if everyone can do it themselves (the supply increases). Here's an example- there's a lot of graduates leaving uni but there are no job listings for their field of work. If egalitarianism exists everyone will either be wealth or poor, wealthy can't happen because we live in a finite world (you can't give a free house or food to everyone unless you ration it), that concludes everyone will be very poor.
I'm an electrician and I'm lucky that it'll be the one of the last jobs to be taken by Ai. The end goal I think is to create one juridical system, one world government and one currency, it won't be the traditional type of but it'll be an AI controlled system (juridical, fiscal and monitory).
Ain't seen nothing yet …wait until the super sports car gets off the dirt road and onto the Autobahn …Starlink/5g
And they don't show us the cutting edge tech …they started laying off journalist by the thousands a year ago …AI has been writing news
Hiring a ghost writer to use this software, or ongoing improved later version is on the same level as an author paying a typist $20/hr to use his word processor. Now, tell me that Steven King, Tom Clancy, or Terry Pratchett to name a few don't know what sells, or are so incompetent they can not learn to use the package well. If he thinks he will survive as a ghost writer, he is as naive as the financial report programmer who takes days that thinks he can compete with a secretary with an electronic spreadsheet that can do the same thing in two hours at half the wage.
Has anyone noticed that the oracle that cried that we are summoning the demon that would destroy humanity is the one person most bringing it about?
