Have you seen the Jordan Peterson and Cathy Newman debate?
See for yourself how he deals with it and give us your opinion in the comments!

We’ve all found ourselves in conversation and felt attacked like we started off talking about one thing and then the other person twisted our words and before we knew it, we lost our cool, lost respect in their eyes, and maybe even acted like a jerk. Now, I don’t normally do the same person twice in a row but this interview between Cathy Newman and Jordan Peterson was just too interesting of an opportunity to discuss how you can handle someone who uses subtle conversational tricks to bully you into looking dumb. So in this video, you’re gonna see firsthand some of the most common tricks that people might be using on you and you’re also gonna learn how to reverse those so that you can walk out of a kind of aggressive situation having earned more respect than you had going in.

So first off, to stop a conversational bully, you have to realize what’s going on before it’s too late. Now, typically, a person will reveal their aggressive attitude early on with their tone of voice and their word choice. Check out the rest that we will show in this video and how Jordan Peterson tackles them.

1:49 Jordan Peterson deals with so-you’re-saying trap
2:39 Jordan Peterson deals with the “assuming the sale”
5:30 Jordan Peterson deals with the smash technique
7:08 But don’t straw man the other person’s ideas though
7:47 And visual imagery can also help
8:25 You can show them that they’re already agreeing with you

  1. “Liberals” and “Conservatives” are vicious Bullies who have no respect for others. Peterson is proof that those who don’t follow said extremists are usually the most logical and ideal human beings to model themselves after.

  2. No need to get heated when arguing with an especially difficult person. Abruptness and goodbye suffice just fine. When convenient a door slam in the face works just as well.

  3. I often say that women do better than man whatever man teach them, but in this case, she should change her teacher.

  4. I remember this 'interview'. It was one of the most maddening exchanges I've ever seen. She was absolutely dreadful.

  5. Jordan is great at debating, but he is wrong on prehistory. A third of a billion years ago, there weren't even trees? No, Jordan. A third of a billion years ago, the earth was covered in lush forests.

What he has wrong is that the enzymes have not developed to break down tree bark, though, and all trees fossilized.

    Bows

  6. She is so horrible. Kathys interview was just so funny "so what youre saying is " that level of trying to force an absurd statements.

  7. Certain very smart feminists are rolling over in their graves at how women like her interact with Peterson. Banishing science and intelligent men is not the way to win, yo.

  8. What she should have done next is broadened the definitions such as saying she's not actually worried about offending Jordan because she isn't attacking his identity. She should stress that the right to not be offended should apply to the most vulnerable of society because they cannot, by virtue of being the most vulnerable in society, defend themselves.

  9. "So you're saying" — <insert really screwed up reworded thing> — oh yes.

But you didn't have an example of the reverse: Conversational bullies will also reword their own unreasonable thing with "What I'm saying is" … and then reword you out from under whatever you just called them on. They do it both ways.

  10. That woman is no match for Jordan. She is an emotional twat who cannot have a substantive debate with a real scientist and he made her look like a fool. Well done Jordan. As for the commentary of this video – WAY TOO OVER ANALYZED.

  11. Cathy Newman was completely humiliated in this debate. I watched a lot of debates, but I have never seen such a clear victory ever. Peterson handled this situation extraordinary. Newman was speechless and devastated.

  12. No wonder the white race is shrinking with ferral females like this who just go for the male throat all the time. I would rather wank than go to bed with this type of woman.

  13. Not broad enough
I usually like the content of your videos but i’ve stopped midway because last time i’ve checked the title i thought it was going to be about how to keep your cool in an argument; not about your take on the cathy newman intervien with prof. Peterson.

  14. No doubt about it.  He likes to argue and he wants to tell you how to argue effectively.  Maybe it's a good idea to pay attention to what he's telling you.  In a world full of liars and manipulators maybe one could learn how to deball these power mongers.

  15. This woman is child's play.  I wouldn't even talk to her.  People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.  I will just assume she lives in a glass house like so many other people.

  16. Frankly, I didn't know this fellow Peterson has any "followers."  Who is he?  The New Messiah?  He's a leader?  Dare I ask of whom?  If he's a leader let's be clear about it.  A leader of whom?  I really have no idea.  I just met this fellow a week or two ago.  He sure is interesting.  The woman is lightwork.  Easy to defeat.  I wouldn't waste my time on her.

  17. OK, you want to talk about what happened millions of years ago on this planet I don't want to talk to you.  You don't even know what happened 100 years ago on this planet.  As for the woman asking me why my right to freedom of speech should have anything to do with a person's "right" to not be offended that is a joke.  Anybody can be offended by anything.  What kind of nonsense is that?  Oh, yes, the usual nonsense.
