Andrew Huberman
My guest is Dr. Christof Koch, PhD, a pioneering researcher on the topic of consciousness, an investigator at the Allen Institute for Brain Science and the chief scientist at the Tiny Blue Dot Foundation. We discuss the neuroscience of consciousness—how it arises in our brain, how it shapes our identity and how we can modify and expand it. Dr. Koch explains how we all experience life through a unique “perception box,” which holds our beliefs, our memories and thus our biases about reality. We discuss how human consciousness is changed by meditation, non-sleep deep rest, psychedelics, dreams and virtual reality. We also discuss neuroplasticity (rewiring the brain), flow states and the ever-changing but also persistent aspect of the “collective consciousness” of humanity.

Why always touching psychedelics you can't even touch psychedelics legally, should I search for a drug dealer? Dr. Huberman please give me your drug dealer's contact, thanks
Wonderful topic and discussion. dr, huberman. I am wondering if you pay a lot to your guests and thats why you take so much advertisement to your program. Or is it covering only production costs? It is very distracting and takes away the flow!! Of the talk. Humble comment from a person that appreciates your program.
Great 👍🏻

Do yall think we or someone you know experiences time at the same speed or if we’re even in the same time zone. I ask because I think we have to perceive, idk, life I guess so if my brain has to analyze the present moment I doubt we live at the same speed as others.
respectfully he dont know shit
Face map, please!
Andrew, please stop talking. Don't demean your guests. Let them do the talking. I don't care about what you are doing.
Sorry but I am interested to know which book exactly recommended by Dr. Koch. He said Confessions by Confessions by Marcus Aurelius, but Confessions was written by Saint Augustine, and Aurelius wrote Meditations. Curious which one he meant to say.
thanks doctor
My life was ruined by dp dr, but my passion for consciousness and people like Christof keeps me going

Towards the end what did he mean when he said maybe even space and time isn't required for conciosness
To hear him say modern science is gaslighting us is like woah refreshing I felt that way last few years and noticed the people saying it's just a trick or programming like dennet and others
An interesting story about pilot 17:20. An exact same event happened on Air India Flight 171, when the pilot shut off both engines. Only one person survived that crash. That pilot must have been smoking something.
Bottom line is : have a near death in experience/psychedelic experience. 🤷 As someone who has done therapy, meditation, yoga for a decade I have never ever come close to these experiences. Looking at a photo of a river for 10 years in will never be the same as getting in a river.
Wow. So insightful podcast. Came across both the scientists Dr Huberman and Dr Christof Koch for the first time. These are very interesting and important topics they discussed. I'm gonna do my own research into related things, apply these in my life as well, and be grateful that I came across this podcast❤
This guy is just brilliant
Sounds like Karl Ruprecht Kroenen from hell boy
Read "The Meaning of Mind: Language, Morality, and Neuroscience" by thomas Szasz to truly get all the answers to your questions.

I have a lot of respect for Huberman, but his sentiment of AI as a solution to conflict is deeply concerning given his position of leadership in education. Granted, I don't have a deep understanding of his experiences, but as someone who is currently engaged in AI education it certainly seems to be far from a solution for determining human relation, and in fact poses a risk in turning over human agency to machines beyond expanding what we are already capable of. Imagine the child giving birth to the parent. It seems a perversion of our nature, and perhaps he should reconsider his position on the topic. Romanticizing a tool is not a great solution, as you will find yourself dependent on it. Electricity is not a given, it just happens to be useful under the conditions the Earth provides at this point in space and time. Its plausible a solar storm could occur disrupting our electronics for an unknown period of time, and having that level of dependency could become disabling under that condition.
One of the best episodes on this podcast
Dr. Huberman — could you do an episode on hypermobility and its comorbidities? Many of us deal with POTS/dysautonomia, cervical spine + TMJ instability, gut issues, hormonal imbalance, pain, and ANS overload. A science-based breakdown + practical tools for training and regulation would help millions.

Thank you for an informative interview, Drs. Huberman and Koch! I especially loved when you discussed dogs. I agree with the benefits of spontaneous, novel movement. That's why I help animals and their people move with greater ease, joy, and spontaneity at any age. We can all grow younger that way!
I happened to be reading his book “The Feeling Of Life itself” ❤ so good. Thanks AH!! This was GREAT.
And whenever you want, I'm ready to be on the podcast! Waiting on the call!
I have been searching and seeking my entire life. I've studied history, psychology, biology, and spirituality. I work directly with people everyday through my life coaching practice, and the absolute best framework I have found for training the mind is Tibetan Buddhism. Mahayana, and if one has the capacity, Vajrayana Buddhism. There is not one angle they have not questioned, or have answers for. I, hands-down believe it is the most wisdom infused psychological framework in existence. I encourage anyone who has not properly investigated this to dive deep, hang in there through the difficulty in the beginning, and you'll certainly find at LEAST some gems to live a happier, and healthier life.
And as always, I wish and hope only love and positive growth to all and all traditions and frameworks. If you've already found yours, more power to you! 🙏✌️🤟
Doctor Christof Koch recommended the book “Confessions” near the end by Marcus Aurelius but I can’t seem to find it. Has anyone else been able to find it or have you Dr. Huberman?
