  1. challenge the cultural conditioning. you see more yourself through dry fasting or through intentional breathing meditation. you see more yourself in silence whether that is taking a break from everyone or vipassana or a walk in nature or talking with a therapist.

  2. John Green wrote in one of his novels something like "the universe just wants to be recognized"
I guess this summarizes your points about consciousness and if existence is all about it.

  3. Every time I watch these episodes I am getting more and more interested in getting to know you and your friends in real life 😀
    Love your thinking and personalities!

  4. I find the discussion on consciousness so fascinating.

My Nan has advanced dementia, to the point of a complete loss of so many things that are required for what makes our individual consciousness function. A loss of memory, continuity, where the present past and future is placed in the lived experience. Without consciousness being anchored in the discernible present with a concise and clear understanding of the immediate, short, medium and long term past it’s near impossible to function in any normal way.

It’s made me really reflect on the ideas around consciousness seeing someone almost in a purgatory state between full consciousness and unconsciousness. How they can still retain many of the facets of self and personality whilst not retaining function is obviously distressing, and seeing the gradual deterioration of consciousness is so obvious to see but almost unquantifiable as to where the boundaries of our consciousness are.

  5. It’s super cool to hear other guys talking about wanting to be a father. I’m 22 and have known for a long time that I want to be a dad, and none of my friends have ever felt the same way. I would imagine that for some there is just a time where it all kinda clicks, but as far as I can remember it was was just already there for me.

  6. When u were talking about the balance with the wife about raising kids. YEP, completely agree. Then, once u have the kids, now the problem is how to negotiate with your wife and get to a middle point on how to raise them. I have 2 kids, and that negotiating part is hard, but definitely gets easier with time.
