  1. In all honesty the Trap where you had to remove your eye i would have done that so quick it would be like i wanted to lose an eye not that i want to but an eye for life yeah fuck the eye

  2. I find another flaw in his philosophy: suffering does not make people more ethical. Many people actually become more selfish and hedonistic have suffered traumatic events because they find it easier to ignore their own pain, which leads them to ignore the pain of others.

  3. 9:00 WTF, they're not drowning you. That's like saying taking a bath is torture. It's just dipping you to symbolise washing your wrongdoing away. Not slicing you open to pour out the blood of your sins. Thats called Satanism

  4. This is a cool video but Kramer/jigsaw really doesn’t uphold this philosophy as throughout the movies, he contradicts his ideological stances and even straight up kills the victims himself when they understand their wrongdoings and beat his games.
The YouTube Chanel “Alpharookie” did a great podcast where they watched all the movies, describe them and review them in order. It’s awesome and they consistently point out jigsaws hypocrisies in his actions

  5. Though it is a nice analysis, I hate that all these analysts keep missing a key point. Yes what is said is true for the ones being tested. But seriously what about the one that are in the trap THAT ARE NOT TESTED. They do not have a choice and there is (usually) nothing they can do but stand and hope things turn out good for them. What about THEM? How do they fit in the game other than feeding the gore fest? Kramer justify that "his victim had the choice" Well many of them had no choice at all, how does that fit? That they are victim of the other person failure/choice?

  6. 11:49 That's interesting to think about though with the whole Christianity metaphor you proposed here…Everyone who tried to continue Jigsaw's work after his death had their own interpretation and twisted the meaning of it, justifying some truly evil things as just "doing his work"…hmm…

  7. His logic is flawed. We're more or less products of our environment, picking up pieces of ourselves along the way. We're just animals, and we're given microwave dinners, porn, cheese, drugs, television, whatever, and we just fill our lives with it, then we die. We're fucked up, and the movies show that. So many of his disciples give up on his ideas and go straight for making people suffer for their own interests. We're imperfect, disgusting monsters and the world is awful.

    Boo hoo.

Jigsaw may be a genius when it comes to his work, but he is no prophet or edgy philosopher who is helping people. He's a sick fuck who doesn't like that folks all over the world waste their lives being apathetic, selfish creatures. I'd ask him what kind of omnipotent force of nature granted him the authority to carry out these acts, but he believes himself to be some kind of savior if the people, so the answer is easy: he does it because he can. You can take his doctrine and remove all of the parts where he discusses the value of human life. What your left with is a guy who wants to hurt people for not being his idea of a decent person. He's just imposing his will on the world. He's no different than a dictator or serial killer.

    Oh, wait…

  8. There is nothing deeply philosophical about this recycled garbage. It's violence propaganda for the masses. For the low i.q. , it's a training video.

This shit is as philosophically deep as picking the wings off a fly.

You have to be literally a moron to hold this type of stupid film in any regard.

Just read and watch videos of lenin & pol pot, religious wars. You'll get a real and historic sense of violence tied to philosophy. Holly wood is full of fcking retards pretending to be some sort of genius.

  9. This video nails what I consider the failure of the Saw series.

The focus was on the traps, with the story just being a wraparound. It should have been about the philosophy.

That's something the Jigsaw film did right.

    *Spoiler for Jigsaw.*

John Kramer was wrong, but he still had an interesting belief system. His failing was he thought he had The Truth, as opposed to a truth. As such he believed everyone would come to the same conclusion he did. That being that people didn't value their lives (thus having a piece missing) until they are forced to through trial.

The hidden first apprentice Logan on the other hand doesn't hold to that. He punishes those who have done wrong and forces them to confront their crimes in order to find redemption. Unlike Kramer, Logan is more of a Devil like character, guiding the Forsaken through Hell.

The traps and the idea of testing could easily lend themselves to other philosophies. That should have been what Saw was about.
