  1. And I thought I was having a bad day! Although, I do have to admit, I think a lot of us can relate to that "We're bad at parties" line.

  2. This car scene was by-far, one of the better scenes of the whole series. Just terrific. My only gripe about this scene is what the Martin Hart character says (and suggests) at 00:30 point in the video "today … that [crime] scene … that is the most fucted-up thing I've ever caught." Really? A homicide detective? A deceased victim — no massive head wounds from a gunshot, no huge open gashes from being stabbed, no decapitation … just a dead body bound and posed. Oh-my … the horror.
To me, there was nothing so bizarre and/or terrifying, about that particular crime scene to warrant "that" type of response; it was there purely to serve the purpose of the plot.
Think about the scene from Silenced of the Lambs … the man strung up in the air with his body slit-open from throat to belly-button … now that's some fucted-up stuff there.
    Big difference.

  3. Rust agrees with Friedrich Nietzche's postulate that human life is pointless, meaningless and absurd. But he rejects Nietzche's notion of "will to power" – that the strong should subjugate or destroy the weak. Rust is compassionate toward the weak. He tries to protect them. But he knows that as a whole, humanity is an abomination of nature.

  4. Man, that dialogue is so amazing, I loved watching the show from the beggining but that scene is the moment I went «Oh my we're in for a ride» and what a great show it was.. Like, no other tv series had such a strong impact on me.. Rust is.. no words.. and his story ark makes him so deep and human even though he seems really detached from everyone around him and all inside his head and philosophy.. Probably one of the greatest character ever written

  5. the director of this series stole and later admitted to plagiarizing the writings of Thomas Ligotti. see The Conspiracy Against the Human Race for more info.

  6. "I think human consciousness was a tragic step in evolution. We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law… We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self. A secretion of sensory experience and feeling. Programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when, in fact, nobody is anybody… I think the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal."

  7. "I'd consider myself a realist, alright? But in philosophical terms I'm what's called a pessimist… I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself – we are creatures that should not exist by natural law… We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, that accretion of sensory experience and feelings, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everbody's nobody… I think the honorable thing for our species to do is to deny our programming. Stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction – one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal. " – Rust

  8. I love how uncomfortable some get by this scene. Just like when your life long friend tells you, he or she suspects your partner of cheating on you. You both know there's a truth in it. A rather harsh and grim one but non the less it's there. Most choose to avoid such but not Rust tho. Me personally on the other hand, I prefer such friends as Rust.
