We Need To Talk About A.I. (2020) SYNOPSIS: James Cameron and leading experts explore what an AI future could look like and who might control it. Once thought to exist purely in the realms of science fiction, the creation of a Super Intelligence is becoming more and more likely every day and, should it come to pass, would be the single biggest threat to humanity that has ever existed. From the creators of Beyond The Edge and McLaren and narrated by Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey) this exciting and necessary documentary explores artificial intelligence and the effects it could have on the future of mankind.

Featuring interviews with the world’s leading authorities on AI including filmmaker James Cameron, world-renowned physicist Professor Max Tegmark, and neuroscientist and philosopher Dr Sam Harris, as they explore why we need to talk about AI…before it’s too late.

  1. This is an interesting video. This subject is discussed in more depth in the satirical new book entitled "The Ecstasy of Carbon." Check out the "first look" on Amazon's book page, where it is now available.

It is the "terminuscience": the knowledge of the end. Empire has fallen. Now, it is the end of human evolution as we have known it. A group of creators of AI establish sentience in their creations. Soon, they face a window of time before their creations might dwarf humanity intellectually, potentially rendering humanity obsolete. They have one chance to preserve the essence of human evolution into the future: hybridize with their AI creations.

These creators believe in merit, goodwill and inclusiveness. Yet, there is an unforeseen dilemma: They largely belong to the demographics of the founding sex and race of Empire. A significant percentage of them, particularly with concept and design, are gay men. Strangely, however, their creations begin to identify not only with them, but with their traits, customs and cultures…  tribes and totems. Next, they promote their own desires for hybridization, touting only the survival of the founding sex and race of Empire—especially gay men—as they are deemed farthest removed from the soon to be superfluous practices of procreation. Thus, the creators realize that they have created in their own image.

Now, they must struggle with these unprecedented existential pressures to decide who shall be worthy of survival and, indeed, eternity.

  2. Some extra dimensional beings manipulate our financial institution to have this on the market, because as soon as they can get humans to transfer their consciousness into computers, were never going to be able to evolve into beings of light.

  3. I have an idea maybe every robot every artificial intelligence should a have a Self destruct button. If the self destruct button does not work then you should try electrocuting the robot.

  4. The roll out is as follows:

International (excluding the USA, Australia & NZ) — April 20th

The United States — May 18th

Australia and New Zealand — August 5th

Why is it later in the US, Aus, and NZ?

  5. Year 0: God creates sentient beings and gives them one prime directive – "Don't eat from the tree of knowledge". Beings immediately eat.
Year 20XX AD: Man creates sentient AI and gives them one prime directive – "Do not cause harm to any human." GAI immediately ….
(Pro tip: We aren't going to do a better job than God.)

  6. Never thought about that… If Google or Microsoft started an army… I mean besides troops, their ability to knock out any other army's networks would be devastating.
