As wonderful as the development of our higher cognitive abilities were in pathing the way for the flowers of science and logic. Unfortunately, many of our atrocities and potential atrocities are ones produced by our analytical mindedness devoid of the real-world impact they have and may destroy us all. Western nations are typically characterized by industrialized, bureaucratic and modernised culture which has compared to other cultures been a breeding ground for mental illness. As we have developed evolutionarily and as a Western culture to inhibit our more animalistic emotional and motor tendencies we may lose the connection with our selves which the body, narratives and emotions are most fundamental in providing us with. Despite the wonders produced in the foundational spirit and ethos of Western Civilization, it is also to blame for the uprising of the destruction which it is simultaneously fighting against. The brighter the glare of rationality and self-awareness the darker the shadow is comparatively.
