Boston Dynamics
Taylor Frey-Baker, a mechanical engineer at Boston Dynamics, answers questions about why the current iteration of Atlas has a head, how the brain of the robot works, and how Atlas understands the world around it.

Why Does Atlas Have A Head? #askaroboticist #bostondynamics
Note : nobody uses windows 11 , the robot lab working with the latest and greatest is not using it 😂
Please stop! We've seen how this ends! 😭
NS-4 robot is here🥰
Why not compound eyes that can form one superposition image stitched together?
Nice build. Atlas is ok too ✨✨
Chinese robot dog can carry 180kg at 25 miles per hour for over 20 miles of uphill mountain even without a road and do incredible acrobatics. Boston dynamics has toy robot. America lost. 😢
Multiple times: "Other people around it." Not a healthy slip for a roboticist to make.
Why no mention of Gemni being in there?
It’s crazy the amount of people who come in here to comment with their nonsense like everything is a joke some kind of parody or nothing to take serious shaking my head over here.
I’m personally amazed to see such an unassuming female working on such a prototype. I’m glad to see such a diverse group of different type of individuals working in a field, working to unified the human race with his best practices and robotic applications for automation and productivity, creating a workspace with efficiency and safety in mind.
Wow, astonishing. It is probably hard to be a mechanical engineer and stay both taylor and half baker, half Norse god of fertility.
…so Unitree G1 can behead it 😂
So it has lights… It can turn red when it's evil
It’s fine for a purely industrial setting, but the design is a bit too utilitarian for human interaction… I don't know, something like a motorcycle helmet seems more appealing to me.
Detroit become human is gonna be real very soon…
❤🧲Ok.👍👍👍👍👍…
"So what exactly do you do here?"
"I specialize in advanced robotics, psychiatry, and hardware-to-wetware interfaces."
"So… what exactly do you do here?"
"I make the robots seem more human."
Boston Dynamics never ships anything, ever 😢
Eyes 👀 in the back of the head.
Bene, bravi! 👏
Petition to have a display with emojis on top of its front face 😂
However, the mechanical design and cooling systems would be insane for that form factor.
I am better than Human😂
I thought this was gonna be an ultrakill short
AAAAA V1 FROM ULTRAKILL
Why doesn't it have a butt? Seems wrong.
If anyone’s robots will end the world I guess it’s best it’s you guys
I also think it having a head makes it more humanoid and therefore more accepted by humans.
The walk is so smooth by now!
So, if this put into the new head device in the future would be able to become smarter than before. That's great!
Compute core/brain located in head. Noted.
Atlas needs your voice to communicate with people
This is like asking why everyone has a head
