You Don’t Know Anything About Consciousness

Aperture

What is consciousness and why can’t science explain it?

This full consciousness documentary marathon explores the hard problem of consciousness, the science of awareness, and the philosophy of mind in one uninterrupted sitting.

You are conscious right now. You know that. But can you explain how? Neither can science. Despite decades of neuroscience, philosophy, and psychology converging on this single question, consciousness remains the one phenomenon that resists every explanation we throw at it. The moment you try to examine it directly, something strange happens — it slips away, like trying to see your own eyes without a mirror.

This marathon is an uninterrupted journey into that strangeness. We’ll start with why consciousness is so fundamentally difficult to study, move through the entire spectrum of conscious experience, and arrive somewhere most people aren’t ready for — the possibility that consciousness isn’t produced by reality. It might be reality. Set aside two hours. This one changes how you see everything.

  1. I love the content but maybe dial back on the ads. By the time I got past the hour mark, I was getting ads every 3 mins that were actually longer than this video itself.

  2. 1:44:39 js woke up to my own philosophy, not necessarily mine but something ive been thinking about alot as of recent time, we're all js the earth circulating through itself, we become an individual exist for a while then cease to be that individual after some time but what make me a person doesnt js vanish it js goes back to the earth to be recycled as something else, who knows how many different people im composed of in a technical sense they're all still here just not whole but we never really leave here

  3. I do not believe in religion but I do believe in life after death. I have always felt that consciousness black holes in space and life after death all have one thing in common. They cannot be observed. There’s some connection between them.

  4. I am definitely not the same person I was 5 years ago. This is a good thing bc if I was, then it would mean I haven't learned from the things that have happened during those 5 years. It's like going to school to be a doctor for 8+ years and saying I have the same understanding, knowledge, and outlook on the human anatomy after graduating as I did when I began school. That isn't any kind of doctor I would want to go to.

  5. Consciousness exists because of resonating and resignation is God you can follow it through the walls of Jericho that book story in the Bible look into it frequency of 30s from the horn the zeros representation of resignation. God is resignation and then a higher consciousness all three of those basically are one then you have holy Spirit which is your body's natural cymatic frequency which is based on where you are born and the astrology sign then you have your body's natural either field which is reference to melatonin carbon 13 and hydrogen 16

  6. If you think of a human being as simply a living Organism, which is a vast collection of organized individual organisms, it needs a central processing solution, The illusion of awareness within the Organism serves as the driver, or steering agent of the Organism. Think of it as management. Not very glamorous, And kind of nihilistic, but you know what they say; " Reality doesn't care about your feelings…"

I did not mean to capitalize Organisms so much, I'm using text to speech LOL

  7. Also want to add that this was really good up until the stages of consciousness which got a little to mystical for me. I keep my mind open to all possibilities and I'll admit I'm really bad at quitting my mind for things like meditation so who knows, but I'd need big scientific evidence for stages 4-6.

  8. My biggest question about consciousness is how did I open my eyes as a baby with this consciousness with this body but not as a different baby or not as an animal??

  9. Lol, I lived a majority of my years, basically treating sleep, like it was totally unnecessary and beneath me.. so early on I had a self waged war with sleeping, think Freddy Kruger thoughts, but on a entirely new level..sometimes I would wake up, in mid sentence, having no clue , what Ive said but knowing something was in fact said.. sorta difficult filling in unfinished dialog, when you have no idea what your even supposed to be finishing

  10. Try examining a highly, self aware consciousness, under extreme consistent sleep deprivation… truly is a one of a kind feeling.. too impossible to believe what a human is capable of without total and complete cohehence..

  11. The audacity of some people trying to reduce consciousness to brain activity when we have zero idea what true nature of matter is is irritating to say the least. It's high time we accept that consciousness is the most obvious fact of our life and we have zero idea what matter is made of. Time to think about "the hard problem of matter".

  12. Red depends on quantity, or intensity.. It's a passion colour, that can at the lower end of the scale signify warmth, comfort.. The warmth of a campfire, the flush of attraction.. Moving up it can be passion, then anger, danger.. Ultimately devastation. Maybe it's to do with blood, a little blood warmed by the fire, raised pressure with passion and anger, the devastation at the end of a slasher movie. A little red as accent can add class, maybe it's leaning on those low red scale feelings of a bit of extra blood (camp fire, the flush of attraction). The red-for-danger feeling is indicating a potential for blood overload, a crash, a violent accident.

  13. What if its "I am therefore I think." Developing a self model must have been more advantageous than not. Consciousness is neat but I dont see it affecting reality. None of us truly exist. We are "nothing" experiencing "something." When the experience is over we go back to the nothing from where we came. Consciousness is a tool used by matter, but nothing metaphysically special about it.
