  1. My brother once told me to take a picture of your art work as it can give you a different perspective, an may come up with some new ideas or see something you like and not through the whole thing away.
I do a lot of concrete countertops. Many of which get acid stained and it's very easy to over work this type of colouring, and very easy to hate it.

  2. MOST OF THE PAINTING IS VERY WELL DONE. I REALLY LIKE THE SUBJECT. ONE THING I WOULD DO IS COOL DOWN THE DISTANT CLIFFS TO MAKE THEM RECEDE. THE COLORS ARE TOO WARM NOW IN THE DISTANCE.

  3. Sometimes art is also deadlines, faulty materials, late suppliers, pets and children running all over your workspace, a means to pay the bills, a job with a boss. While waxing poetic and being lost in our own minds while putting each brush mark is ideal and romantic, sometimes art is also physical, time-bound, and a means, not only to live inside our heads, but also to function in society.

  4. I think your art, has this inner longing and clarity of Mind that your voice reflects., is real, simple and beautifully accomplished, is easy to understand with nothing but heart and beautiful said.
Your voice , your art .

  5. Such a beautiful approach to applying paint to the canvas. I just love your technique and the dark rich colors you began with.
This is the first time I have watched you paint. One of the videos that appear to watch because of what you have been watching. I have really enjoyed this. I did subscribe to your channel so I can watch you again.😊😊😊

  6. Thanks for sharing your work and your thoughts Sean.
When I paint I go from being euphoric to utterly disgusted and sometimes back to euphoric again. Painting puts you through the ringer but its worth it for a good end result.

  7. Great video! I know what you are talking about. One of my teachers said painting was like arm wrestling. You go one way and then another until you get what you want. I don't think artists ever get exactly what they want but if they work hard they will get close. That is what I told my students.

  8. You have said what I've heard before from other very fine artists. Essentially the painting tells you what is needed. Something so hard for us beginning painters to grasp and use in our work. One color can effect another and it's either wrong or right and must be changed or kept because that what the painting needs. Color relationships all over the canvas!! Loved this video and your commentary. Thank you for sharing.

  9. Dear Sean, thank you so much for your words of wisdom and your generosity in sharing your process, thoughts and feelings for our benefit. Really appreciate it. A GREAT VIDEO!!!

  10. I throughly enjoyed the process of your work, as you explained your process. What I came away with was a statement, " having connection, or our work will be just technical exercise"….so why bother? Very profound. Thank you for this tutorial. Amazing work!

  11. Inspirational and also very instructive about the painting process; about the feeling an artist has for a scene and then about translating that to the canvas. There's a real lesson here in painting; that after getting a fundamental understanding of the rules, the process is actually meditative and intuitive. It's a real interaction between the artist and the landscape. i think if one can get this you can really understand the deep appreciation that a painting can give, both as viewer and artist. That's why I suppose some artists never sell certain works.

  12. Thank you so much for sharing your process….time spent…..very generous. Beautiful work ❤️ What are your referencing? A plein air painting? a photo? Thanks again 🙂

  13. I, too, am an artist. Undergrad and Grad school many years ago. The hardest effing thing to listen to is an artist talking about why they do what they do. Full of subjective BS and self indulgence.
