  1. haha as if some dude on youtube is going to debunk bell hooks, a scholar who has dedicated her life to studying difference. deny all you want you should do some reading about "blackness" and "whiteness" both have little to do with actuality of race and everything to do with the public perception of race which is largely based on media and popular culture which have little basis in "truth" or :"reality".

  2. basically you're way off base, haven't done nearly as much reading (on this subject) as she has, or even I have.

maybe you need to fill in some of those blanks and try this again. its not about who is ghetto, or who is promiscuous, it's about who profits and who is harmed by the images created. please pay attention, it is crucial to engaging with this information.

  3. Here is my question. When are we ever going to get to a point when woman stop choosing to objectify themselves? I say never . Feminism has gone wrong when it stopped trying to give woman choices to make decisions , and tried to make choices for woman and oppressing male sexuality. Female choices like prostitution and exposing ones body will never go away. Empowered woman make those type of decisions to suit their own needs.

  4. If you want to see "whiteness" read your own message. You are in serious denial. I'm half latina and half white and I'm just saying that because it's time we stopped being in denial of our demonization and projection on black people. It's time we told each other this instead of them having to always point it out to us. and give them reparations and affirmative action.

  5. that is sexuality from an oppressive misogynst point of view. If you were a woman could you see yourself enjoying the role these women are playing? Would you like to dance around like an ornament? as sub human f*ck toys?

  6. we disagree. I see woman make choices to sleep with men for money all the time. If the woman is not being make a sex slave by a pimp or escort service and is prostituting of her own free will, that is an empowered choice . Just because it is a bad choice does not mean that she was not empowered herself to make the choices needed for her to get what she wants in life .So Why should we look at these woman as victims when we do not look at the men as victims . Men prostitute and pose naked to.

  7. She always has such great insights and explanations . But a good third of her conclusions are driven a little off by her feminism. she finds ways to make feminist theory fit where it clearly does not .

  8. I find your thesis to be highly flawed and compromising. What is your stance on the real issues, the intersectionality and balance of power between corporate society and the consumers?

  9. immortal technique, eyedea, slug, brother ali, ra the rugged man, apathy, vinnie paz,ill bill, ext real rap with meaning is underground for a reason(the mainstream)

  10. So what does Bell Hook want to replace the successful
    WHITE SUPREMACIST CAPITALIST PATRIARCHY?

In African Nations, the blacks in charge run it for their benefit.

  11. +alansjf33 women may make choices to be prostitutes, strippers etc. We live in a world where women are told 'be sexy and you'll do well' ….if we say yes out of choice…for what..money? We are then empowered? Money isn't necessarily empowerment. Its almost impossible to be truly empowered if the options provided to you are this limited. If a mugger backs you into a corner and says 'give me your money or I'll kill you'…the mugger has given you a choice…so are you saying that person is not a victim and should not complain because hey…he was given a choice?

  12. I like the end where she is talking about the"white Social justice warriors" of today, who are ready to drop their "progressive" stance on equality at the drop of dime, but I don't understand how she makes pionts about the objectication of women as sex objects (which is true) but makes no mention of or even has an idea of the objectication of men as "utilities" only good for labor and violence? both are limiting views of the sexes, and to imply that "white men" and "men" in general are solely responsible for the run away inequality of the modern age feels incomplete in a social understanding of our western culture.

  13. there's a lot here that's still relevant, but hip hop has changed so much over the last few years that you kinda need a different subject of comparison
