CASETiFY CONSCiOUS Compostable Case Review for the iPhone 11/11 Pro & Max

The CASETiFY CONSCiOUS case is decent. It’s a thin, light decently handling case. And like all of CASETiFY’s products, the CONSCiOUS lineup is customizable.

Now there is one thing that is starting to emerge out of all the compostable cases I’ve been reviewing. They are color sinks and come apart easier than others.

I think the CASETiFY CONSCiOUS lineup is no exception to that observation BUT I’ll know for sure after I do the drop tests.

When it comes to design, the CASETiFY CONSCiOUS lineup is generally thinner the compostable UAG Outback. The overall fit of the case is decent and there aren’t any seams that are noticeable.

The case isn’t going to slide around easily on the back and the front but don’t go and rub your case on two many things because these cases are color sinks. Darker colored jeans are going to do a number on the case. You can try to wash it out but don’t get your hopes up.

When it comes to wear and tear, CASETiFY’s compostable case is going to wear quicker than their rest of their lineup. You can almost scratch pieces of the case off with your finger nail.

CASETiFY uses a material called ecotify which is apparently a blend of biopolymers, corns starch and bamboo. The Outback uses bamboo as well whereas Pela uses flax if you were wondering. The case is rigid, better than the limp noodle rigidity of the Pela cases but no where near the rigidity of CASETiFY’s Impact and Ultra Impact cases.

From my understanding, biopolymers are still a form of plastic. It’ll break down in the right environment BUT still plastic.

The case has a slight matte finish to it and will feel quite slick out of the box. It gets better the more you use it. I will note that unlike the rest of CASETiFY cases that have a symmetrical edge, the CONSCiOUS edge along the front of the case has a greater curve than the back. That curve actually helps reduce the feeling of bulk on the case which is neat. This edge design is neat BUT it means you might not be able to use certain 3D screen protectors.

I will note that this case handles better ½ through the day than in the morning. It’s an odd feeling and I can’t quite put my finger on it.

When it comes to accessing your iPhone, I generally had no issues. Buttons weren’t tight, qi-charging works, camera cutout doesn’t get in the way and the port cutouts are there. The case edges are quite noticeable but doesn’t hamper gesturing on your iPhone.

One-handed usage isn’t as great as other cases as the port and speaker cutouts are a little sharp so your pinky is going to get grumpy.

Overall, the handling of this CASETiFY CONSCiOUS case isn’t as good as the UAG Outback BUT I like it better than the Pela case.

The edges of this case are very rigid so the iPhone has a better chance of staying in during a drop. Now the higher edges

So when it comes to drop protection, CASETiFY says this case will protect your iPhone from an incredible drop height of…. 4ft.

At least they’re being honest about it. BUT like I said at the beginning of the video, is this case going to come apart like all the other compostable cases I’ve dropped in the last while?

  1. If you want eco-friendly products, buy the compostable case.
If you want protection, buy casetify ultra impact case. They are slim and protective.
Btw "circle, circle, circle, circle…" lol

  2. I picked up a case from my local Walmart that I cannot seem to find any reviews on. The case is from the brand iHome and it’s called the iHome Velo. There’s a clear one, which I opted for, but there are a few other colors that I believe are Silicone. If you can get your hands on these, please review them!

  3. Yikes! I feel your iPhone’s pain from that drop 🤕. I guess Ecotify just doesn’t cut it, in the drop protection department 🤦‍♀️ 📱 . I’m also wondering if maybe throughout the day your handling of the phone actually rubs off some of the surface from this case 🤔

  4. For your speaker grill, try removing the concrete debris with a worn-out toothbrush (rinsed with water will do).

And please keep showing the screen in every drop for us to know if the case will protect the screen.

  5. I mean, okay, I guess all these compostable cases are fine, but I just feel like I'm not doing much damage to the environment with my darn phone cases. I mean, I'll just forgo a couple bottles of water and I've already saved the environment the space my phone case takes up. I mean, all the money spent researching and developing compostable cases, if we put that toward understanding the benefits of recycling and properly disposing items such as oil and batteries, I think we would make a bigger difference, right? I mean geez you have to be hard core to buy one of these cases specifically because it is compostable. I understand buying a case because you like it and if you like it as much as a non-compostable case and the prices are the same, then yeah get the 'eco-friendly' case I guess. But otherwise I just don't see the point. Don't get me wrong I'm all about saving the planet…i'm just saying my phone cases are not destroying the planet. Ok, I'll stop now lol.

  6. Not so interested in the compostable cases so much, any more. iPhone SE or 12 are still on the list! Maybe Pixel 5? The Cirell cases are in the Amazon cart with your link. I received my MRE bag. Should I rate if it's worth buying?! Lol! Just kidding. I like it! I like red accessories. Thanks, as always entertaining! You and Monty look great with you new haircuts!

  7. Yikes! Sad to see the case failed to protect the phone, I would prefer to stick to traditional cases like Mous etc… The UAG compostable case looked like the best one of these “bio” cases you have reviewed so far.

  8. Thanks for your reviews. Just bought a new iPhone, and I've been on the hunt for a good case. Been watching your reviews for your unbiased opinions, and they've been very helpful. Curious if you'd ever review a case from Redbubble. I like that they have thousands of artwork design choices from independent artists, but of course I want the case itself to be good as well. They have 3 options (soft case, snap case, touch case). I'm wondering how the soft case (made of TPU) compares to the Tech21 Evo Check. Been using the Evo Check for a couple years now and love it, but it lacks any sort of artwork.

  9. Why don’t you create an online store to sell cases you review? Too much overhead, or destroy your integrity? I don’t care for Amazon, but I wanna support the channel…guess I’ll buy a shirt…

  10. Dude! You can't wreck the compostable case ideology in your 7 month Pela update with all that logic, and then do a series on these! You took away all of my interest in buying them LOL
