Living in the Paradox of Consciousness | Ram Dass Full Lecture 1975

Baba Ram Dass

Ram Dass describes the levels the Western mind has to go through to move beyond rational thought, and accept that other planes of reality are just as real as the physical plane. Then, and only then, can we give up who we thought we were and accept who we truly are. In you is everything you need to be a fully enlightened being. He also describes the processes one goes through when they surrender to God. From feeling the pull of God, to understanding the paradox of consciousness, Ram Dass walks the audience through the stages of the evolution of awakening. In seeking liberation, we must look toward God, but also honor our incarnation and relieve suffering on the physical plane. (Martha’s Vineyard, MA – (8/16/1975). 1. He is just as sexist as conventional religions. Every example of a young seeker is a male, every person the youth goes to for wisdom is a male. Nothing new here, same old sexism as all religions.

  2. Something to think about. If we're all the one consciousness then, no matter how enlightened you become, while there's still physical beings in the universe, you'll be coming back. How can you not reincarnate again and again and again when we're all the one consciousness, no you or I? Unless consciousness ceases to manifest in physical form, there will always be a physical form of you/consciousness.

  3. That is so funny. When he was talking about meditating until you begin to become stiff and stop breathing and then freaking out. That is exactly what happened to me. I figured if I kept going I was just going to die from it so I ran back towards the light LOL then I discovered that there are other practices to teach the individual to mechanically breathe to get through this phase.

  4. You have to be really rude to bring a baby who can’t shut up to something like this. I don’t know if this is the lecture where it starts crying in the middle of it but it’s just Asinine

  5. This lecture is closer to the threshold where language begins to fail than any other. His words seem to transport me to that other place I’ve been but can’t seem to remember.

  6. Incredible. I awakened years ago and bless Ram for being able to communicate the experience so perfectly and profoundly 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️

  7. I'll tell you, I went from a depressed 16 year boy who knew he was being fed BS by our society and parents to a 28 year old peaceful being that is not afraid to face any sitatuon and preparing for the day I leave this vehicle. Ram das and many others have helped remind me of who I'm not and who I am. 12 years later and I'm still listening and hearing deeper and deeper teaching each time I go back

  8. "sometimes you tend to try to bring things home too soon, because you're afraid of wondering too far away from home" That sums up where I'm at in some ways

  9. thank you for uploading this, it brought me to tears, going through hard times right now and this man and his words are so profound, just started listening to him a couple months ago
