  1. "Gaelic speakers were much more numerous North of the River Forth" – What about areas like Dumfries and Galloway in South-West were there was dense usage of Gaelic? Didn't they speak a distinct dialect called Galwegian Gaelic? Gaelic was once the dominant language of Scotland.
