TEDx Talks
AI has been called many things – the next stage in the evolution of intelligence, the end of the human race, the reason for the next world war, the solution to all our problems, human-like intelligence, etc. Mr. Ravindran argues that all of these do not really apply to AI, at any rate, not yet. AI is more like a toddler taking first steps, and it will be what you want it to be. Don’t tag AI, it is the people that use AI that make it good or evil. Balaraman Ravindran is the head of one of the largest academic centres on AI, the Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and AI, and a professor in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Madras. He is passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art in AI and eventually build complete artificial agents that can co-habit the world with humans. He has worked for more than 20 years on reinforcement learning a paradigm for learning from trial-and-error and continues to be amazed by its potential. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
