Inside the lab: How does Atlas work?

Boston Dynamics

Go behind the scenes at Boston Dynamics with the Atlas Team as we work to train multiple Atlas robots to maneuver their way through our most complex parkour course yet. The team pushes Atlas to its limits to discover the next generation of mobility, perception, and athletic intelligence.

Why do our robots do parkour? Get a closer look in our blog: https://blog.bostondynamics.com/atlas-leaps-bounds-and-backflips

  1. “Hey Tom, can you get me a flat head?” When I heard her say that I thought the best be for prying cos who in their right mind, especially a leading edge organisation like that would be using such an inferior fastener head hahaha

  2. Haven't seen anything on BigDog in a long time, is that a discontinued project? Also, why don't you have a gear shop, I really want to buy a Boston Dynamics t-shirt!

  3. I love how they mention that atlas is just a platform to do R&D and yet people still think it's gonna be a thing, yeah maybe 10 or more years down the line after at least a couple more prototypes and breakthrough in energy and material science.

  4. Feels like the main character doing a trainig arc, the difference is that Atlas is a robot and we don't know why is he training for, but we are afraid to ask…

  5. They have a staff to create parkout courses. But are the humans at Boston Dynamics allowed or required to run those courses?

I'm still waiting for Spot Macro, a horse-sized rideable version of Spot. With handlebars for the rider of course.

  6. imagine a machine that replaces heart so your brain or entire head could be cut off and put in a robot and you could be almos immortal

  7. Some christians :"This stick is full of powerful energy from god The material is from particle of dust magic. All these machine thingy is purely fake news".

  8. Boston Dynamics, owned by Hyundai now, looks very diverse. All whites staff, and it's the white men that are the only ones speaking to the audience and doing the real "technical" work.

  9. Great amazing work in progress ! Thank you very much Boston Dynamics. We all love your work and these videos very much ! Can't wait to see the next impressive thing…

  10. Other than the robots the primary purpose of this video was for you to see how casually dressed and young the people at Boston Dynamics are. Thats the impression they wanted you to get. No older, experienced, life wise men here. Also, they highlighted the female technician using a power tool. This was as staged as a KISS concert. Probably a smokescreen to hide that they have not had any truly new innovations lately.
